Product doesn't sell.
Solution: put out more product.
Brilliant!

They mix the men's and women's soccer teams together too.

On their transfer deadline day tracker last January it was confusing as hell. There was like some last name I've ever heard of saying it was a record transfer for Arsenal. I'm like who and what? Clicked on it and it was for their womens team. Totally disingenuous

During the NCAA tournament, the Women's tournament was headlined on the front page over the Men's...you should never have to scroll down to get the men's scores.

But I do enjoy watching videos of them missing uncontested layups in front of empty arenas.

I've seen those highlights...and the announcers never call the countless airballs, "airballs".

It's always "Shameeka Jackson! Just misses!"

Good grief, even describing what actually happens in a game is spun and apparently treats the viewer as some imbecile.

I feel like they had a headline like "5-Time all-star Johnson opts for free agency" without identifying league or sport

so they're trying to turn that sunk cost into a breakeven endeavor

Vanderbilt had better odds of winning the CFP than ESPN has turning the WNBA profitable. So this is either feel good nonsense, poor leadership, or a silly DIE initiative. Let’s be honest.

hey, you old slow dumbfrick.

it’s 2023, we have these things called smart phones now. And have for a decade. They host these things called Apps. (short for Applications, since I’m drawing you a flow chart). ESPN also has one these Apps. It’s riddled with a whole lot of shite no one cares about. You should check it out some time.

Your phone has an App called an “App Store”. Whoa, i know. Mind blowing. You can find the ESPN App there. And no Grandpaw, it doesn’t cost anything.

Will say this about the WNBA though, it’s pretty damn good from a sports betting perspective.

Whatever Vegas sets the total points scored at, bump that number up 4-5 points and then take the Under (it will usually then set the money line at -175 to -200). When pairing a couple of those together you’ll get plus money and it hits about 65% of the time.

It’s costs them virtually nothing to put it on a scroll or to arrange it above the men’s articles. It also makes them get more “clicks” and making it look like there is more interest, meaning more ad revenue.

Not saying it works, but it probably helps minimizes losses

they usually average between 3,000-8,000 total live viewers per game. There have even been games that drew less than 1,000 live viewers

Sheesh. Youtubers in a spare bedroom have more viewers than that

If Lester called me a “good man” I’d be seriously concerned I was putting out the right vibe.

How does the WNBA even make money?? No one watches, no one buys merch and the stands are empty. I’m convinced it’s just a big money laundering operation.
