A five year plan shouldn't be cut off in year 3.
They'll probably spend a ton of money on vets looking for their last big pay day and overpaying for good one-way Ryan Anderson type players.
Then they'll be middle of the pack playoff team at best.
Hinkie's plan was to have a 4-6 player core who could ask play together for 4+ years
Outside chance, but still significantly likely that they could take Simmons and Hield in this draft.
Ish
Heild
Simmons
Okafor
Embiid
Noel
That's solid. Could even trade okafor for an upgrade at PG.

No way I'm reading that shite tonight but I'm looking forward to it tomorrow.

The 76ers owners learned nothing from The Office. This played out exactly like when Idris Elba took over Dunder Mifflin and was all impressed with Dwight and kept pulling him into meetings before finding out he's insane.

but as i posted earlier, what they acquired and actually have isn't THAT great, esp in terms of fit
okafor and noel can't play together
embiid is a myth more than player (and plays the same positions as okafor/noel)
saric is a healthy myth at this point (and probably has to play the 4 in the NBA)

We don't really know what they have. Embiid has reportedly looked good last I heard (maybe that's changed) and week see with Saric.
They have a to pick this year (maybe two) and they have a pick swap with sac next year.

Missing two straight years with foot problems is the reddest of red flags. He's probably closer to Oden than a reliable building block of a franchise.

The process concept makes some sense but the assets he drafted are an incoherent mess
How could he invest so much in bigs when shooting and running are at such a premium?

The guy is obviously very bright and capable if you look at his background. Wish we could have seen his vision play out a little bit more.

Guards are cheap. Serviceable point guards are everywhere. Skilled, competent bigs are not. And if one of those bigs doesnt fit, but has talent,he can easily be turned into a solid guard.

Holy shite, I thought that list was a joke

Nah they were in an awful spot when he got there. At worst he's maintained the status quo.
The Bynum debacle left that roster devoid of assets. Getting Noel alone was a huge win. Really makes no sense to push the guy out on the third year of a complete rebuild.

Read the manifesto. Easy to see why corporate CEOs loved Hinkie. Same time, dude is a true believer in all the buzz words those guys jerk off to until they get uncomfortable.
Long View stuff was compelling. Same thing with the uncertainty/risk. Loved Hinkie suggesting coffee with a polymath (since many of you live in NYC) and their record pick adding (which isn't a record because no one keeps track...but it's the most ever).
Will be very curious to see what the Sixers do next and how they manage the roster and picks.

It is tough to have the architect of the tear down also be the architect of the rebuild

Yes he said he was in NYC for a board meeting so he may have already made the decision that he was leaving when he did the podcast.

He talked about losing 20 lbs from Nov-Dec because of stress...this job took a toll on him
