It's unlikely the Saints will lose 5 RBs to injury again.

If Sproles becomes a primary back, they are in trouble.

PT/Ivory are the primary backs.

follow along...
you guys are saying how deep the backfield is. Sproles isn't built for lots of carries. We aren't talking 5 injuries...maybe 2 and Sproles starts carrying the rock alot. If that happens, the Saints will have problems.

So this puts the Saints behind other teams?
Every team has that problem. But only a few teams have a backfield that can stack up to the saints.
I don't understand your argument.

Wow...I feel like I am teaching a second grade class.

for the fifth time...SOME of you are ready to crown the Saints right now. Because they signed some quality free agents, they are ready to go, right? Those are the same guys that were saying a repeat was inevitable.
The Eagles have signed some damn good players too FYI.
SOME people are saying how deep the backfield is, and cite Sproles as an example.
My response, Sproles isn't a workhorse runner. How'd the Reggie Bush thing work out rushing-wise? It will be the same kind of deal with Sproles for the most part.

Congrats, you have a deep backfield, you can't get all the players on the field at the same time.

at least we're not fans of the Redskins

i know, right...this guy has holes in his arguments yet when we point them out he just reverts back to the "LOOK I'M JUST SAYING THEY AREN'T READY YET!!"

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see anyone saying the saints are going to easily win the superbowl. We're just trying to make the argument that they are pretty much even with green bay. then you come in here and say our running game is soft. which is pure BS

actually, you did.

They need more depth...much more. This a 2-back minimum league now...and the Saints are stuck in the back of the pack.

Exactly, great point...except for that whole signing a workhorse running back in Ingram. Ingram is your 1st/2nd down back. PT is your third down/spell Ingram back. Sproles is your return man/split 3rd down with PT back.

Did you mean Ingram? Ivory is 4th on the depth chart at best.

If Ivory is healthy for the season opener, then I think Ivory and PT will get the bulk of carries early.
But it looks like Ivory could start on the PUP.

AFC EAST.
I was surprised no one said this yet...
The AFC East is stacked. I'm not sure about Miami...but I know a lot of 'experts' think that Buffalo could upset some people this year.
Posted on 7/30/11 at 4:55 pm to JJ27
he led the team in rushing and he only started 4 games. If he's healthy, he'll be the #2 back

Was Ingram on the team? No way did the Saints trade up in the 1st round to take Ingram and let him be 4th on the depth chart.

I also thought of the AFC East, but Buffalo and Miami are not going to be good enough to put the division in the same breath as the NFC South and NFC North.
