They're just mad someone broke the story before his Players Tribune letter dropped. Like someone earlier posted, his trainer followed everyone Celtics related. This isn't going to be something where he gets jaded and goes elsewhere because of it

The reporters did the same thing when Dwight was a free agent and picked Houston several years back.
The media said sources said he's choosing Houston. And then they came back and said he was having second thoughts. Then they said he was leaning staying with the Lakers. Then it came out that he signed with Houston.
Dwight said it was all a load of crap and that it pissed him off because he already decided that he was signing with Houston and never wavered, and he didn't know who the reporters were talking to but it was just made-up crap that made him look like a flake.

I don't see why some of yal think Ainge struck out.
He is about to sign a super-star caliber (although superstar lite) SF. Not give up any viable asset for him either.
He can still draft some of the most sought talent in the draft with his future picks. He has young talent on the roster right now. He has great vets on the roster right now.
He can do either. Contend now, Contend later. Hell, he can do both if Boston gets a big man to pair with Horford.

Royce Young
My guess: Hayward picked the C's, word got out without the Jazz knowing, and they're trying to walk it back so he can tell the Jazz "first."

My guess: Chris Haynes saw that Hayward's trainer followed all of the Celtics players on Instagram, then decided he wanted to be "first" to report so he just made up that Hayward is going to the Celtics, even though he's probably right.

Nice theory, except Royce Young wasn't the one who reported it.

Adam Himmelsbach @AdamHimmelsbach Couple of league sources now saying teams haven't been notified of Hayward decision yet, and others saying it's done. Sounds like formality.

I hope this goes on the rest of the day. This is entertainment with the Insiders scrabbling for info

Hayward's agent Mark Bartelstein on whether final word is coming today: "That was the goal, but now we've got to kind of regroup here a bit"
