to be fair i probably shouldnt blame him for this. he did try to give up a lot. pritchard was just didnt want to deal with him

should have focused his efforts on butler

That's not a fumble.

He's got a great team, Hayward, and tons of assets still.

There are worse fates than easily being able to get young cheap talent constantly.

Yeah George as understandable, but they could've been in The position to have Butler and Hayward on Multi-Year deals

and yet they still probably dont have a team that could consistently beat lebron and we have no idea what those assets will look like years down the road. i think he fumbled

Agreed. Don't think Hayward alone puts them over the edge. Now Hayward and Butler, maybe.

Don't agree. They were the 1 seed and got better. They have the ability to stay good for a decade.

Ainge is a fricking boss, and I've been saying that consistently even when he didn't get George or Butler. He's as savvy as they come.

So the Jazz and Clippers slide down the West. The Timberwolves and Nuggets slide up.

But at the same time other teams in the West who were already good got stronger.

The thing is, next year is perfect for them and you can get two franchise guys in the 2018 Draft, whether that's Porter Jr., Doncic, Ayton, Bamba, Bridges or Robert Williams. Absolutely loaded in 2018. They even have a good shot at a 2019 top-five pick which could be Marvin Bagley or Zion Williamson

and it was laughably obvious how much better cleveland was than them when they cared. cleveland was sleep walking through the season and went through stages of giving lebron rest. i could give a shite about them getting the 1 seed. they were clearly in a tier below cleveland. they absolutely got better, but not by enough

potentially. but thats all that is. its a hope that these assets will turn into something which is far from a given. they could have had a team to compete right the frick now. instead theyve gone half in on competing right now and are hoping that their assets turn out. i would have gone for competing right now because its a more sure thing

THIS gonna get good
quote:

Boston would now need a series of transactions to create cap space for Gordon Hayward. The Celtics would have to pull the qualifying offer on Kelly Olynyk, renounce free agents Jonas Jerebko, James Young, Gerald Green and waive the contracts of Jordan Mickey and Demetrius Jackson (or trade). The Celtics would be left with $27.6M in room and likely need to move the contract of Terry Rozier or Marcus Smart. Trading Rozier would have the Celtics short $1M of a max salary a lot.
