The owners will make that money back twice over and the players, who are sole responsibility for ALL the franchises value and profits, won't see a dime of it back. In fact, if the tax gets too high, they might just trade Klay or Dray.

So much for playing the nice guy. I applaud Lebrons for keeping his foot on their necks and forcing them to pay them what he is worth. Gotta pay to win

The NBA isn't "any other workplace"

If you don't see why this is a huge sacrifice and an admirable attempt to help his team continue to win, then nothing I can say will help you get that.

Well actually by doing what they're doing it's the Warriors who are winning

I see why it's a huge sacrifice and I think it's stupid to give money back the owners will never give you back.

Why should he give back money they'll never repay him? Dwade learned the hard way. Those owners didn't get wealthy but cutting themselves out of millions in business deals. Players should look at themselves as their own coroporations.

All this does is save a man wealthier than him so money he's going to reel back in because of the new tv deal and the new stadium. Who advises these guys ?

Side story about Durant: If Andre Iguodala had left, I'm told Durant was going to give even more than this back to make room for Rudy Gay.

I really think this came down to he's really good with the money he's already made + all of the investments hes made since getting to the bay area. He just wants to win as much as possible now

It has more to do with Durant willing to take less to keep winning.

Boo hoo he's missing out on $9 mil.

He's still making $25 mil I mean Jesus Christ

Does KD know that Achilles injuries are the worst injury an NBA player can have?

Plus all the endorsements. 9m isn't a ton of money to him

Just imagine how little that 9 million (or 20 million with cap penalties) must mean to a billionaire, then.

I don't understand why people say things like that. Durant made a conscious decision to pass it up and folks react like he stole money from a fan or something. Who gives a shite.

Kd gets a 30 million dollar a year check from Nike. If u combine endorsement and NBA check kd is still the second or third highest paid player depend on if he has anything other than nikw

What's even crazier is that Chris Paul is going to make $24 million this season.

Word is Chris Paul was pretty shocked at the JJ deal.

Its expensive being 6-11 with a 7-6 wingspan. Its not like he can walk into a Dillards and buy some clothes, or buy a car from the dealership that he can actually fit into. KD probably has to customize all his shite to fit his tall lanky arse.

I don't think taking this mindset to heart would lead to a better NBA product...just saying...

ETA: I do know what you're saying though.
