i mean having 400 million dollars to hand over and not being affected by it is really difficult
Posted on 7/2/17 at 9:31 pm to WestCoastAg
It's all Monopoly money at that point
Posted on 7/2/17 at 9:33 pm to wildtigercat93
theres a biiiiig difference between 250 and 400
theres no way GS ownership is committed to that kind of money for more than one year

that chart is assuming that the salary cap is where it is now which it goes up every year. anyone who is printing out charts for 3 years from now telling you exactly what the luxury tax will be is lying to you
they haven't even announced what the cap will be next year or in 2019 yet /

Yeah, but buying the team at $450 mil and in seven years it's up to $2.6 bil is a nice ROI

Lakers seen Rondo being a good mentor for rookie Lonzo Ball.
What the shite could go wrong there?

the luxury tax means, becuase i gurantee no one here knows what it is besdies mjyself lol, is that over a certain threshold you pay 2 dollars for every dollar.
in 2017 that number is 119 million dollars. that's why they have a 42 million dollar luxury tax they are paying 21 million over 119 x 2
no one knows what the luxury tax is going to be in 2018 but it went from 114 to 119 from 2016 to 2017 so let's assume for the sake of the arguement the luxury tax is
124 in 2018
129 in 2019
134 in 2020
139 in 2021
because i don't feel like doing this mjuch math let's focus on the last y
ear 2021
if the salary is 177 which, it won't be, but let's say it is, and the luxury tax is 139 that's 38 million dollars, times two is 76 million dollars, plus 177 million is 253 million dollars, not 400 million dollars
jeuss that lsu education lol. and lol at everyone who just reads shite and takes it for gospel
and ALL that assumes that they all sign for market value.
now, you got to get into the repater tax but still you ain't close to 400 million.

that 400 million dollar shite is some shite thrown out by the NBA to give other teams a sense of false hope.
there is none. and i hate the dubs.

Yeah I think I'll trust Bobby Marks' opinion on the salary cap instead of vengeanceofrain from the internet

For a repeater, the first $5 million over you pay $2.50 on the dollar.
For the next $5 to $10 million over, you pay $2.75 on the dollar.
For $10 to $15 million, you pay $3.50 on the dollar.
For $15 to $20 million you pay $4.25 on the dollar.
And for $20 million and up you pay $4.75 on the dollar and keep going up $0.50 each $5 million.
So using your number of $38 million in salary over the tax, that would be:
First 5M @ $2.50 = $12.5 million
Second 5M @ $2.75 = $13.75 million
Third 5M @ $3.50 = $17.5 million
Fourth 5M @ $4.25 = $21.25 million
Fifth 5M @ $4.75 = $23.75 million
Sixth 5M @ $5.25 = $26.25 million
Seventh 5M @ $5.75 = $28.75 million
Final 3M @ $6.25 = $18.75 million
Total: $162.5 million in luxury tax.
Total salary + luxury tax = $339.5 million.
Oh, and those numbers you were shitting on came from Bobby Marks. He has spent decades in NBA front offices and was an assistant GM for the Nets. He knows what he's talking about.

quote:if the luxury tax is 139 in 2021, and GS will have a salary of 177, which it absolutely could possibly be if they keep their big 4, then they would be almost 30 million dollars over the luxury tax threshold. that isnt a fricking 2 dollar tax on every dollar over
139 in 2021
thats almost a 4.75 tax for every dollar. thats just the base. thats before we get into the fact that they will be repeat offenders. so they will actually be paying almost 5.75 for every dollar
that puts them at barely under 400 million

Vengeance is out of the loop. Yesterday he was saying Crabbe can't be dealt either. Then he was saying GS needs a combo guard then later GS looks at Young, total opposite of combo guard.

and no, the irony of saying that no one on here knows more about the tax than he does while then throwing around the 2 dollar number which is not a number in any tax scenario was not missed

Wait, so you don't trust the opinion of someone that posts like they've had one too many Smirnoff Ices every day?

Staying on subject, Millsap is Denver bound. 3/90 mil

It's only a ROI if he sells it. The worth of the team doesn't mean much otherwise.

Damn mixed emotions. We called this back 4 mos ago, but woulda liked for him to be acquired by CC. The asking price was just too high.
Melo it is.
