It was an uphill battle for Houston that Ryno deal really came back to bite them in the arse. A trade with Cleveland has much less roadblocks for the Knicks.
Doesn't matter what the Knicks want... Melo isn't interested in Cleveland really anymore. Houston is really the only team he's willing to be traded to at this point:

Carmelo Anthony Reportedly Set on Rockets Move After Kyrie Irving Trade Request
Carmelo Anthony reportedly remains intent on finding his way to the Houston Rockets after Kyrie Irving requested a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
According to the New York Daily News' Frank Isola, Anthony "is focused on getting a deal done with Houston."
That echoes a July 17 report from ESPN.com's Adrian Wojnarowski suggesting the same.
At the time, Wojnarowski cited league sources who said Anthony had started "to prioritize a trade to the Rockets" over the Cavaliers so he could form a partnership with Chris Paul and James Harden.
The Rockets and Cavaliers have long been the two teams Anthony has reportedly been willing to waive his no-trade clause for, but it appears the defending Eastern Conference champions may be fading out of the picture.
According to Isola, "there is no guarantee" Anthony would waive his no-trade clause if he was being traded to "a Cavs team that didn't have Irving."

Although I would honestly prefer Houston over the shitshow in Cleveland, NY could very well say well...guess you're stuck here then buddy.
The option is always theirs to keep a disgruntled player
Too bad Wade didn't opt out, the banana boat dream could have really came true.

I still think a deal with Houston gets done. Knicks are just making sure there are no other options before biting the bullet and trading him.

What if Melo is no longer willing to waive his NTC for the Cavs? You really think an aging Melo who wants to contend for titles wants to be traded to a sinking ship?

What do you call the Knicks franchise?
I would bet that given the choice, Melo would take 2 years in Cleveland (at least one with LeBron) over 2 more years in New York if the Rockets can't find someone to take Ryno. At least at that point with LeBron, Melo can compete for a title next year.

It'll be a really awkward next year in New York if Houston can't find a trade partner

New York isn't going to just give y'all Melo. I know their hands are tied but how bad of a return do they have to get before they say it's better to keep Melo on the Knicks roster?

@TarekFattal
Very solid source close to HOU tells me that Carmelo Anthony is likely to be a Rocket by early this coming week. Stay tuned..

There was a report saying Jimmy Butler and KAT are recruiting Kyrie to ask for a trade to Minny.
I've always thought this, but how does a guy like Jeff Teague, who would be a part of the deal but can't be dealt until December 15, feel that his teammates want a trade for a PG?

So now that we've added "solid" to the word source it's guaranteed?
Just kidding. I wonder what the Rox have to give up to get Ryno off the books. Hopefully the Pels get involved so we can off load Asik.

Unless the Pelicans are taking Anderson, there is no room for them to get rid of Asik. There is no 3 or 4 team trade scenario I can think of where the Rockets get rid of Anderson and the Pelicans get rid of Asik.
Knicks don't want the contracts of Anderson or Asik. Rockets don't want Anderson or Asik. Only option for Asik and Anderson is a 4th team.
So if the Knicks don't want Anderson and if the Pelicans don't want Anderson, the only other option is trading him to a 4th team. So unless that team takes both Anderson AND Asik, then the trade won't work.
I don't think there is any realistic scenario where the Pelicans get into the trade to dump Asik. Doesn't make sense.

Man, this entire thing is hilarious.
Lebron vs Kyrie has Kobe vs Shaq part II potential.
We just need Kyrie to get arrested and nark on all of Lebron's private misdeeds

And Kyrie to get as good as Kobe was
I still think Denver is the most intriguing destination for Irving. They easily have the assets to do it and Him-Millsap-Jokic has some serious potential offensively. I know they weren't on his little list but if I were a PG I would want to play with those two

I'm still confused. Why is he wearing a Watson jersey?
