I'm pretty sure he's going to be traded as well, but you make it out that knicks have no other option, they do. Whether they hold to their guns or not is their decision. If I had to take on 30mil/yr of bad contracts for 3 years without a pick or a young player, why would I? I'd be better off buying him out.
They are just hoping he expands his list so that they can get a better deal.

Four teams have been dropped in this trade right? Look at what each one has to offer. What would you take if you were NY??
1. Houston
- No 2018 pick, Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza, and Clint Capela
They don't want Anderson, Capela is about to be paid so find them a suitor for a pick, maybe. Gordon and Ariza are probably not available.
2. New Orleans
- Salary Dumps: Ajinca, Asik, QPon
- Youth potential: Diallo
- 1st round pick
Trading with them is salary dumps+1st round that'll be either in the middle or late teens. They also have Diallo who is a complete unknown, playing well in the summer league so he is completely boom/bust. Would that be worth it? Probably.
3. Portland
- Salary Dump: Leonard
- Potential: Harkless
- 1st round pick
Trading with them makes sense, but reports said nobody wants Leonard. The pick from them is also equivalent to the one from NO. Harkless is a nice catch. Harkless+1st would be worth it, yes.
4. Phoenix
- Salary Dump: Knight and Chandler
- Potential: Bledsoe
- Not giving up the 1st round pick
Phoenix wants to hold onto their pick as well. They want something of value for Bledsoe, which no team is willing to reach their request. They want to ship off Knight, which nobody wants because he sucks. Not worth it.
Looking at those you'd want the Portland/NO picks. But you're going to take on what looks like 3 years of 20mil bad contracts in addition to it.

Harkless+1st would be worth it, yes.
Paul George was had for Olidipo and Sabonis... and he didn't have a no trade clause.
Carmelo does not have much value.

Isolated, yes its worth it. He's young, 'expensive' potential, and you get a pick. The issue becomes Portland wants to shed Leonard too.

All the reports said Pritchard turned down a ton of better offers, so who knows the truth.

Neither did George, yet they got a young cheap player and a pretty good SG in exchange without having to take on ridiculous size contracts.
Trading with PDX/HOU/NO/PHX for NY is all about taking on bad contracts at this point.

NY is not taking Myers Leonard and it's been said that the only thing that was holding up the trade was Portland trying to find a team to take Leonard. If that's true, they'll get that done.

What? I thought he was going to leave after next season and go to the Lakers? Oh wait, Lakers fans have moved on to Paul George, DeMarcus Cousins, and LeBron James going there in free agency...
It's absurd how Lakers fans think they can get whatever free agent they want, when they haven't landed a star free agent in 20 years

I could count on one hand the number of times the Lakers have had significant cap space in the last 20 years. Missing on tier 2/3 stars like Carmelo, Aldridge etc. was a blessing in disguise imo

Last offseason when Durant left many people were talking about Russ going to the Lakers. George is the only one that sorta makes sense, but he's not going there if they suck. The LeBron stuff is laughable. Same with the Cousins speculation, he was fine staying in Sacramento, now all of a sudden he wants to be in the limelight?

My concern if I were a Lakers fan would be that George is also a tier 2 star and he might be coming by himself. Where does that really get you? You need Lonzo/Ingram to make the jump quick to time with the back end of George's prime
This is my realistic take not trolling like the user above

If you are George, would you rather play with Ball and Ingram or Westbrook? If he likes LA he can always move to LA when he retires.
I don't think he's going unless other stars go, and I don't think that's likely.

There had been talk for a while about possibly Westbrook and Love going back to LA.

Which might be a blessing in disguise for LA. More lotto picks for the next couple years instead of 7 seeds.

realistically how many actual months is he -IN- OKC during the season? 4?
he can always be in LA whenever he wants.

I've thought about that too and agree with everything you said. IMO PG is a #2 guy on a championship squad. We definitely need Lonzo and Ingram to pan out and do it quickly.
If we get PG next summer but miss on Lebron, Boogie, Russ etc., I think punting cap space for the next year and remaining flexible would be the best move. Klay Thompson would be my #1 target the following year with GSW's impending cap hell along with his LA ties.
