The top 5 of Tiger's first two major wins:

Now do Jack. You'll find a lot of guys you've never heard of in the top 5.

1962 US Open
Jack -1
Arnold -1
Bobby Nichols +1
Phil Rodgers +1
Gay Brewer +3

Ever heard of those guys? Didn't think so
1963 Masters
Jack -2
Tony Lema -1
Julius Boros E
Sam Snead E (he was 51 years old)
Dow Finsterwald +1

You heard of any of those guys other than 51 year old Snead? Didn't think so

Jack's era was dominated by a handful of golfers. The depth of the field was a joke after the top. It is much, much more difficult to win a major (or any tournament) now and was more difficult during Tiger's prime. There's a reason Jack, Player, and Arnold each amassed so many major wins, runner up finishes, and T5 finishes while all playing in the same era. Compare that to 1997-present. Here is the list of guys who have won more than 3 majors from 1997-present:

3: Koepka, Speith, Harrington
4: Rory, Ernie
5: Phil
15: Tiger

Then there are a ton with 2 and even more with 1

Let's take a look at the competition during Jack's run from 1962-1986 (I'll actually start with Arnold's first major win in 1958).

Golfers with more than 2 majors in that time frame included:

3: Casper, Boros
4: Floyd
5: Seve
6: Trevino
7: Palmer
8: Watson
18: Jack

So, basically from Arnold Palmer's first major in 1958 through Jack's Masters win in 1986, nine guys won 56 of the 112 (50%) major titles available. From Tiger's first Master's win in 1997 to the present, 7 guys have won 37 of the 96 (38.5%) major titles available.

And it's pretty easy to understand why this is the case. Not even going into the natural advances all athletes have made across eras, golf was not a sport where you could make a good living back then. Tiger changed all that. Even fringe tour players can make several hundred grand a year missing the cut almost every weekend. The number of millionaires is so much greater now that it attracts better players and better athletes to the sport than it ever did back when Jack played. He's even pointed to that very fact and talked about how jealous he and guys of his era kinda are

and Tiger had plenty he didn't close.

He lost to Yang

Yang in the 09 PGA was literally the only time in a major he didn't close when he had a the 54 hole lead. He didn't have "plenty." He may have had some comeback attempts fall short like when he shot a 64 on Sunday at the PGA in 2018 but still couldn't catch Koepka. But Tiger has only blown one 54 hole lead in a major in his career.

Tiger can’t match 18 wins and 19 runner ups..... it’s just a fact.

Jack also can't catch Tiger's 82 wins on the PGA Tour or his 41 wins on the European tour. Tiger is 3rd all-time in wins on the European tour despite only competing in 121 events. Tiger also has the lowest single season scoring average in PGA history, the lowest career scoring average, record for most consecutive cuts made (142), and the career record for winning % on tour (22.8%). Those are also just facts.

In assuming your post is satire?

Tony Lema? Julius Boros????? One of the best swingers in the history of golf LMAO.

Boros won 25 professional events and three majors

Lema had already won 22 professional events and a major before was killed in a tragic crash at the age of 32

Are you retarded????

Tiger changed the way golf was in played. There is zero dispute in that... but you sucking on him every chance you can is creepy.... facts or not...... Tiger himself denied himself at winning more majors with his messing around on his wife and destroying his marriage... Tiger himself has been arrested for a DUI.... Tiger himself was found on a road in a wrecked car(still wondering what he hit). He was wasted on pain killers... and he looked stoned on national TV Sunday and now it seems he can’t drive an SUV.... did JACK ever have anything like this happen????? Hhhhmmmmmm......,,,,

I never realized how little people know about the effects of opiates. Some of yall act like a couple vicodin impair a person's driving. If that was the case they wouldnt allow you to drive on them. They just say use caution.

Someone with a high tolerance to opiates wont even notice they took them ,and if they take enough extra to get a feeling off of it damn sure isnt the type feeling that effects someone's driving.

Like I said earlier, the only exception to that is if you take extra and are already sleepy,if that's the case it's just like when you get sleepy driving and nodd off a bit. Now if hes mixing benzos ,or something else, with opiates, then he could have certainly fell asleep behind the wheel.

Trust me,unfortunately, I know what the hell I'm talking about. Wish I didnt ,but I do . Theres not a lot Idk about opiate effects. Sorry ,but someone that's well rested and taking pain meds for a recent back surgery ,if taken somewhere around the amount prescribed ,isnt gonna be driving impaired ,especially with his tolerance.

Tiger wanting 18 is a distant third to tiger wanting pussy and good times.

The rest of this thread is a bigger wreck than Tiger's SUV. Some of yall need help.

Every time there is a thread on Tiger and his spot in history, you suck off Jack. I fail to see the difference here except you and I don't agree

No, Tiger having major injuries from 2008 through the present is why he didn't pass Jack.

so what?

I don't dispute that. His insane workout regimen wasn't helpful either, but him being perpetually hurt for over a decade was miles more detrimental to his not passing Jack's major total than his infidelity and subsequent divorce. Peejay, for whatever reason, thinks his entire downfall was due to his off the course issues with his ex-wife.

Tiger, flat out, couldn't even play in 15 majors from the time he tore his ACL and broke his leg winning the US Open in 2008 until 2018 when he returned from spinal fusion surgery. And during that time frame, he was battling through injuries in most of the majors he did end up playing. He was healthy a total of maybe 2-3 full years from mid 2008 until 2018. he had a brief run in 2012-2013 where he won a bunch of tournaments and had top 5 finishes in majors, but the rest of that time was largely a wash.

This is the correct answer

Golf is a mental game. His divorce exploded his brain
quote:

In December 2009, her marriage to Woods was the subject of extensive media coverage after Woods admitted to infidelity, which had been revealed following his single-vehicle accident near the family's Florida home.

He has 1 major since then. 10 years later. He won the US Open immediately following knee surgery, so that wasnt his downfall

It's not a rumor. But why is that such a big deal? Why does it need to be a rumor?

It's not a rumor. He has a deal with GolfTV to do promo stuff and was scheduled to film with Brees and Justin Herbert at 8:00 that morning. He had filmed the previous day with Dwayne Wade and David Spade.

That's his Asian heritage from his mother's side coming out with his lack of driving skills.

Looks like the only place he can drive well is out on the golf courses.
