Remember posters here saying there might be like 3 players nationally who will get more than $500K
Lmao I remember being lectured that only the absolute surefire proven stars would be getting 6 figures
And that donors wouldn't want to take risks giving money to unproven freshmen out of high school

Rich people love their sports and will pay the $$$ to see their team win.

All this shite started because of a damn video game

The NIL and these enormous payouts would work if we would stop the free transfers…..
Take college bball…. The $would entice more players to stay longer, and build a team with jr’s and srs. that fans could
Follow and invest in…
IF they didn’t transfer every yeat

They gave up the rights to their likenesses the moment they signed their contracts.
Need to make this all amateurs again. Don’t even give them scholarships anymore. If you can’t get in the school on your own then tough shite go dig ditches or whatever.

Honestly not sure any of those guys are.

Of course none of you blink an eye when a coach signs a 13M per year contract.

You mean LSU QB #6 on EA NCAA roster who looked like a cross between Shrek and Cro Magnon man, and then Clemson OT #71 who also looked like a cross between Shrek and Cro-Magnon man. And also KSU RB #11 who also looked like that, but was black?
You mean those characters?
The thing was - that game was more about just being to be the coach of LSU and winning the SEC. It had little to do with the players, it was about the team.

I know for a fact I’d watch more Alabama amateur football than I would the good league that Ryan Williams and the boys would go to.
What are we doing with the revenue from the amateur teams/leagues?

I remember knowing exactly who I was controlling in those games

Why would I? They are professionals. They sign contracts and are held accountable as such.

Lowering ticket prices and costs of access for all fans and what “profit” remains gets reinvested into the fan experience.

Ok I like that. Sign me up.
But as it’s set up right now, the athletes need to be paid what they’re worth.

I think his statement is a little misleading. Sure, a couple of guys, most likely Raiola, Lagway, maybe Sorsby(TexTech) and Leavitt, are asking for that amount. Raiola and Lagway due to their already inflated pricetag, Sorsby due to who is suitor is and Leavitt being the "top guy". Doubt any of them get that and the next 20 guys on the list will be asking for far less. Hes taking the extreme and leading with it as the group is commanding that. Context matters. He is a click bait savant, so no surprise he would resort to click bait tactics.

It's professional football now.

Contracts have to be codified in some manner - performance provisions, at the very least…

You get on your high horse and lowball somebody, then your rival comes and takes him, and then beats you on the field...heads would roll.
SEC TV money is what, 60 mil a year? Big 10 is higher than that, right? You find ways to spread most of that money to the boosters, so it then gets back to the players, and you keep the cycle going. fricking Vanderbilt just went 10-2 and wants a piece of the action now.
