LINK Go to the 1 minute mark. Hank Tierney almost got tossed for arguing this play. The player got up after being tackled and scored

Didn’t look like he was “tackled”. No part of his body appears to have been on the ground nor does he appear to have been “down”. I don’t see the complaint.

from that view its hard to tell if his knee was down or on top of his o-lineman who was laying on the ground.

You could argue forward progress maybe, but it appears that the knee that you are claiming was down was on his lineman's leg, not the ground.

on the replay it looked like the knee was on top of someone. That means not down

I don’t think he was ever “down”, but the fat black ref in the middle is clearly stopping the play and marking it forward progress.

Just poor communication between officials which is par for the course in lower level football

Grats on Coach Hank for Win #300. Shaw did him dirty back in the day.

2 things. 1. He wasn’t down, just on the pile. 2. I didn’t hear a whistle. Play until the echo of the whistle.

Didn't look down to me, no knee on ground.

umpire doesn’t mark fwd progress ……just goes in to clear clutter.

I don’t give a shite what he is and isn’t supposed to do. He is moving towards the Pile and getting involved to end the play. He shouldn’t have stood around looking like gomer pile when the RB took off running

We didn't have the advantage of seeing the play up close through the pile. But the Ref. closest to the play defintly was heading in to mark the spot. Everyone on the field stopped because they thought the guy was down. I am not arguing if the guy knee touched the ground. From our vantage point we thought the play was over. We still won the game. I was surprised to see that cameras were able to capture the play.

Confer with the head ref and say my actions stopped the play. It isn’t rocket science.

Did he blow the whistle?

That's the only action that stops the play. You can't make up rules on the fly, if he didn't blow the whistle, walking towards the pile means nothing.
