Never get this anti-ND hate. They win the vast majority of their regular season games against what’s usually a pretty tough schedule. What’re they supposed to do, lose 3 games and be average enough to matter, or keep getting to the playoffs yet not be on Bama / Clemson’s level.
Every other 4th - 8th ranked team would be getting drilled right now. The only difference is they’re not as consistent as ND so they don’t get regularly destroyed, but they would every time they make it.

Playing Purdue, Michigan, Air Force, Navy, etc every year isn't enough.

There is a huge difference between a game in the first three weeks and a conference championship game. A&M improved as the year went on, but you’d rather reward a team that lucked out on Clemson Covid players out as justification to award the spot to ND.

But who are these 33 wins against? What time frame? Are the wins against quality opponents? How many of those wins were vs top 25 and top 10 teams? Statistics by themselves prove nothing, that’s my issue

They never deserve to be in. Just look at their last 6 NY6 games. They are 0-6 and none were even close.

Why does it matter if it’s a conference schedule? They almost always have USC, Michigan, Stanford, plus a handful of their ACC tie-in games, and an additional team like UGA.
It’s not like they play a Baylor-esque schedule. The only benefit they typically have is no conference championship game, but they’re not getting in because of their weak schedule nor are they getting a preferential spot over someone better. Anyone they chose was gonna get beat in this game.

They were, but the playoff committee goes out of their way to say the criteria is to get the 4 “best” teams, not “deserving.” Which is absolute horseshite. “Best” is 100% subjective and a chicken shite way out. They basically are looking for the teams Vegas would favor on a neutral field., which is how they justified putting Ohio State in.
But it should have ALWAYS been the most “deserving.” At least there is some objectivity there: number of wins and losses, big wins, conference championships, margin of victory, etc...Now the committee can value each of those accomplishments in different ways, so there would be some subjectivity, but not nearly as much as the “best” criteria they state.
But they’re such hypocrites when they utter the word “resume.” frick your resume, committee, that’s for “deserve,” which you have shunned for “best,” talking out of both sides of your arse.
I loved the BCS and thought I’d love the CFP even more. But the committee has way too much power now, and it needs to be neutered. So:
—8 team playoff
—all 5 P5 conference champs
—highest ranked G5 champion ***
—2 highest ranked at-larges (seeded 7th and 8th)
—top 4 seeds host quarterfinal round
—the remaining 4 teams play out the rest like the CFP is currently set up, with the alternating bowls, etc...
***I’m fine with using the old BCS formula to determine the G5 champ that gets in, the 2 at-larges that get in, and the seeding. Though I doubt the CFP committee would give up that power willingly. So either tell them to frick off or throw them a bone and let them do the seeding.

A ton of good teams have lost to those teams over the last decade. Everyone not looking through gold dome sunglasses can see the truth. Anytime Notre Dame has a decent team, they are hyped to death and shoved down college football fans’ throats. Yes, Notre Dame nipped LSU in a meaningless bowl game in Florida as Miles was on his way out. Who cares?
