Based on what? They had one stop and scored once?

They have a 15 mill per year deal with NBC and usually have a decent squad. It’s not hard to figure out why they get so much attention

8 team playoff
—all 5 P5 conference champs
—highest ranked G5 champion ***
—2 highest ranked at-larges (seeded 7th and 8th)
—top 4 seeds host quarterfinal round
—the remaining 4 teams play out the rest like the CFP is currently set up, with the alternating bowls, etc...

This is the exact scenario I’ve suggested in the past.

So is LSU and SEC fans doing mental gymnastics about Notre Dame. I’m sorry they have a big following and people care about them.

ND jealousy is fun to see. They move the needle

A few other teams have made it in, but the Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St. fatigue is real.

I’ve been doing the same floor exercise routine for 30 years.

This team has no business in this playoff and it took less than two sets of drives to prove that.
1. How you gonna tell this to people like sms who think San Jose should be be in the playoff?

2. This is a great game

Notre Dame just isn't dynamic, no big play ability, no playmakers on O.

They are who we thought they were, and the Committee let them off the hook.

A more suitable bowl would've been Notre Dame vs. Liberty.

Is it too late to call up Oklahoma and get them in this game?

That’s why 8 is too many. It should be 6 with the top 2 getting a first round bye.

They won the Armed Forces Cup again this year. Beat Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and the South Bend Boy Scouts. They are a joke.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to make some case for ND winning. I just think the hate they get is unjustified because of how consistently almost-good-enough they are. Instead of being there every few years like an Oregon or a Michigan St, they’re there every year so it seems like they’re getting stomped more often, but what’s the alternative?

Oklahoma doesn’t do any better when they play on the big stage but doesn’t seem to get the same type of hate.

Great minds.

But there’s no getting around that it’s the fairest while maintaining the integrity of the regular season and making conference championships relevant again.

Not even close. They may be artificially inflated until they lose multiple games every year, but they aren’t there at near the end every year.

Yea they’re not there literally every year, but in the playoff era they’ve gotta be the 5th most consistent team after Bama, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.

Only two teams belong. Same as every other year. Only two semifinal games have ever been competitive. The playoffs have been a failure and people want to make it even worse by adding more teams.

ATMs best win was a 3 loss conference loser (later ending with 4 losses). The best team they played they were shellacked.

Everyone knew notre dame would get killed but they had the best resume. Not the committees fault.
