This was easily the greatest upset in NCAA basketball history. Possibly greatest upset in the history of sports.

Miracle on Ice was the greatest in sports history AINEC. It was a bunch of college kids who beat the most powerful hockey team in the world. The Russians were so good they beat NHL All Star teams. The two teams weren't even in the same stratosphere. At least UVA and UMNC were both D1 with scholarship players playing at the same level of competition. The Russians were so much better than the college kids from the USA that it is mind boggling to compare the differences.

Can a fixed fight really be considered an upset?

It's basketball.

Not football. Or even hockey.

For a crappy team to beat a powerhouse in football is way more impressive.

Anybody can jack up 3s and get hot. They shot 50% from 3 point land.

Dominating on the lines in football as an inferior foe...say Louisiana-Monroe vs. Alabama - now that's impressive.

Biggest upsets in football history?

1. Michigan vs. Appy State
2. Alabama vs. Louisiana-Monroe

UConn losing in women's bb is bigger. There are only 17 good women bb players in the nation and UConn gets at least 12 of them each year.

College sports cannot have the greatest upset of all time as they are amateurs and have not been playing their sport for as long as professionals.

This doesn't make sense.

Are you a liberal?

I had wished that the first #1 seed to lose would be a blue blood.

Stanford over USC in 2007.
USC was a 41 point favorite. Stanford was 1-3, USC 4-0. Stanford was starting their backup QB.

USC was actually "only" a 39 point favorite.

And that record for CFB actually got beat just this season when 45 point favorite UNLV lost to FCS Howard University, led by a true freshman QB named Caylin Newton. Caylin has an older brother that also plays QB and Caylin looked a lot like big bro in his college debut going 15 of 26 passing for 190 yards and 1 TD, and adding another 190 rushing yards and 2 TD on 21 carries. If Caylin was 3-4 inches taller he would have been a big time prospect
