Iowa has quite the wrestling program as well. They’re a very well run athletic program in a tough part of the country to be competitive

If you lived in Iowa you'd be happy to have a team to cheer for and you'd relish a run by any of the teams. They don't have the expectations of an LSU.

Thanks for that. Just like probably 75% of all of the other universities in this country, you are probably right. Iowa also like winning Wrestling national titles, but I'm sure you are such a huge sports fan that you have never heard of Dan Gable...

They’ve won 24 National Championships in Wrestling since 1975. That is hardly not winning anything.

Even if it is their pinnacle, why shite on that? This entire post just screams insecurity.

This is Iowa fans pinnacle,

They live in a different world. To their credit, they have a culture that helps them survive and at times thrive among the better teams. For example, on their main football site, they are still lamenting the loss of Kadyn Proctor back to BAMA. This is the second time they lost him to the same team. I don't think it will ever be safe for him to travel home again. That is their culture. Proctor was the highest-rated recruit in the history of Iowa football to finally make his way to the program, but their culture didn't invite him back.

Iowa, according to sources, wanted to avoid the appearance that anything was being handed to Proctor without him having to earn it. They weren't going to roll out the red carpet. Behind the scenes, teammates didn't exactly welcome him with open arms. Rather, they were skeptical that the same player who flipped his commitment the day before signing day was truly all-in on Iowa's culture, which hammers home the idea that no one is granted special treatment, whether it's a five-star recruit or a half-a-star recruit.

The Iowa culture may have been the biggest reason Proctor didn't feel welcomed back and it wasn't hard to start missing guys that did care about him. Sometimes a big fish just needs to live in a big pond.

Iowa baseball has gotten a lot more competitive in the past decade and like women's basketball, has gained a nice following but yeah the Cubs and Cardinals are definitely baseball kings in Iowa.

If they could find offensive players that overperform like their defense they’d be in the CFP every year

I was huge Hayden Fry and Lute Olsen fan as a kid.

Sans the Holding Int TD Return vs LSU in 2005 bowl game..always been a bit of a Iowa fan. They do more with less.
