22 years as TCUs coach, he built this program, didn't have the benefit of a playoff when he had his best teams, he was ousted and his program is in the Natty the next season. Oof.

Sonny Dykes is about to be a very rich man. He can name his price after this season.

Gary’s still a big TCU fan and the program wouldn’t be where it was without him.

Definitely a little kick in the nuts, but not that that bad.

Idk why this would be a kick in the nuts. He gets the legacy of being the bricklayer that led to better things, he's responsible for getting TCU in the Big 12. It's not like those 09/10 teams belonged in a playoff and it's not like he was going to subsequently whip up a team like Dykes has

21 really impressive years I'm sure he's proud

I wonder if Gary will say something similar for Sonny...

He was a great coach, and he built the program. Even though he clearly lost his edge the last few years, I would hope TCU fans don't bad-mouth him.

Times like these we need absurd commentary form Golden Nugget.

They wouldn't be in the playoff had TCU not forced him out. He'd have lost to Dykes and SMU a 3rd straight year and that would have been enough to keep them out.

He should have had a shot at it in 2010 and 2014. Those were great teams that were denied a chance at a title.

If they win they should give him a ring.

Why wouldn’t they? They were going nowhere with him, one year later they are playing for a title. Send him a card for transitioning them to the big 12 but he had long outstayed his usefulness.
