Wayyyy too early. They haven’t played anyone and won’t until LSU. IF they dominate the rest of the schedule and wind up winning it all again then they have an argument.
Still 2001 Miami for me. I have a hard time picturing a team being better than them

01 Miami?. Give me a break man, they played an entire schedule full of cupcakes except Florida St., and barely squeaked by multiple teams that they should have beat by 30+. And then goes on to beat a Nebraska team that just got destroyed by Colorado. Yes they had lots of NFL caliber players on that team, but so does Alabama.

If a team is smoking their opponents like Alabama so far, they're stacked AF, their QB has an accurate rocket arm and is athletic AF, and are coached by a legend, I don't need a SOS to know that team is pretty damn good at playing football, they smoke the better opponents the level they've done currently, they ascend a level to all-time, transcendent status

Bama's obviously really, really good, but best ever? Let's wait until they play some good teams. I'll give them A&M, but the rest of their schedule has been terrible. Yes, you can only beat who is in front of you, and I think we all expect Bama to be one of the last four teams standing.
But if we're talking Best Team Ever, I'd like for them to at least play a top ten team first. Hell, I know FPI is an imperfect measure, but it's a decent blunt tool... Bama has played ONE team in the top 50 (#19 Texas A&M).
They are good, but how good? The jury is still out.

So much hype for a team that hasn’t played one team with a defense better than 75.
How many teams across the country would be 5-0 with what Alabama has played? I’m not saying they’re ridiculously good, but best all time is fricking ridiculous.

I think they would all likely beat them, but I think it would be more like the 05 USC-Texas game. Those teams would score, but so would Bama. 95 Nebraska would beat them the worst, maybe 05 Texas.

I agree. It's insane.
I do think it's been a while since one team has appeared this much better than field. We'll obviously see if that remains to be the case going forward.

2001Miami gave up 103 points in 11 regular season games,
2008 USC gave up 93, in 12,
Florida might not have been the best team in 2008.

Why do people feel the need to crown teams before they win something?

A&M is a 8 (?) win team that Bama didn't completely destroy. Which solidifies my point.
