the very thought of this possibly being true makes me physically ill

that's pretty epic if he killed himself and hid himself so that this scandal wouldn't blow up
that would be some loyalty
that would be some loyalty

And if this is true...how stupid will those students feel after their dumbass riot?
I have a nice, ripe, punch in the face for each and every one of those fricktards.

whether this is true or not, i as this has been unfolding i've been convinced that there is something more going on than meets the eye...i can't see any possible way this many people could overlook such things for so long

joe pa and company regulated the flow of information and basically ruled that town

Someone posted a picture of him .. half was definitely the DA but the other half of the face was someone seen I forget in what state. Looked like the "then" pic and the "possibly this is him pic" looked pretty similar. It's in some thread around here but not sure which one. They were sayign taht he got a bunch of money and just took off in to his own protective witness type thing.

I cant even imagine a coverup that big. If any of that is true than let PSU burn for all I care.

i think the hypothesis now is that he might have felt guilty after being pressured into not making charges against Sandusky in 1999. It doesn't seem like a stretch to assume someone intervened to stop the charges, especially after the DA had an investigator eavesdrop and personally hear Sandusky make a confession to the original accuser's mother. With the way that the layers on this cult like structure are being peeled away it doesn't look so unlikely that major strings were pulled in order not to prosecute in 98'-99'. Whether that involved jobs, money, or other benefits is all speculation but there are some dots that might connect together one way or another here.

I expect to see more pedo's exposed, would be surprised if they were big donors.

This.
I have been shocked at the entire story, and I have never doubted that Joe Pa knew all of the details and that he helped cover it up. But if this report is true, I think I might physically throw up. I refuse to believe this, although at this point, I can't discredit it neither.

agreed
that's why i'm saying a straight up suicide would have likely blown the cover off

this entire situation is such a sad commentary on our society...the fact that a college, particularly a football team, can wield this type of power over people is just unfathomable

article on psu back in april
You have to wonder about the relationship between the media and Penn State...most of the them were probably too scared to investigate this for fear of losing access to the program.

Madden was the first one to write about this story, back in April, and it got no attention. He had most of the details that have since gone viral. If he is the one saying this, people should listen.

The sociology of small college towns would be an awesome dissertation. Th entire social structure that goes into something like this potentially happening is both scary and fascinating

they were discussing the media and penn state after the press conference was cancelled
basically they completely controlled any information about the program and dictated what people could/couldn't ask
since that press conference was NOT going to be about the game saturday, and lots of reporters that didn't give a shite if they were shunned were there, they just cancelled the press conf
