When I was in high school I opted to umpire Little League Baseball we had either ump for baseball or coach. Had to do so many games a week and I can manage my time for my own choosing better by umping plus it paid better
anyway
during a game of 9 to 11 year olds fights kept breaking out till the game was called whilst I had some mother try to hit my head with the baseball bat through the backstop for the rest of the season parents from both teams were barred from attending

If you want better refs they need to be paid more b/c nobody wants to get screamed at for 2 hours by some a-hole who thinks his kid is the next big thing in sports when they are getting $30 to $50 a game.
Won't matter. I know professional referees who work matches to stay fit in the offseason and the amount of stupid comments from parents towards those guys is comical. I finally had enough and asked a parent if he knew who the guy in the middle was. he said no, but he's terrible, needs to quit, etc. Told the guy it was a professional referee and the shade of white he turned was admirable. MLS referee took an assignment paying $100 when his normal assignments pay him 10-15 times that.

Stripe up if you're so damn sure you could do it better.

I am a referee. Been doing it off and on for nearly 40 years, the last 17 consecutively. Was deemed good enough at my job to be handed the whistle for a state championship soccer match in Georgia.
I'm also a referee mentor and coach. I work with younger and inexperienced referees to help them improve their ability. Parents, coaches and administrators who don't know a thing about my job, yet tell me how to do my job, are my biggest issue in youth sports.
Without officials, all you have are scrimmages.

How did a video of two players fighting, then parents coming onto the floor and one got tazed, turn into a thread criticizing referees?

I enjoy sports of just about every kind and every level. I know I used to think this way but then had to realize I was taking sports, much less kids sports, way too seriously. Sports is for fun. Anger shouldn't be the point of it.

It’s funny watching societal commentators talk about things they don’t know

Like all the games just end with Ryan getting tased.
Maybe they’re on to something there. You lose, your HC gets tased
