I thought they revised the hold back rules years ago to make it harder to do?
Eta: I guess special ed makes it easier though, because marvin white from port barre is my age, but graduated two years after me. Played for tcu and the bengals.

Must have been 04 because we beat Evangel in the 03 5A finals.

I can't argue that. But now it's the other way around. Riverside, SCC, & JCC are loosing money playing Inner city scools. They don't even have 2
fans per player at some games. Home or away.

You can't holdback after 6th grade I believe. However, if a kid "fails" (wink wink) the rules don't apply. The high schools who have or control elementary grades through 8th can really fark around with that stuff.

Why did Curtis not play all the way up in 5A?
Posted on 12/17/13 at 12:03 pm to ThisWayChad
they said it was about their other sports being competitive, that they'd make the move up when all their sports could handle it, not just football
which is BS
which is BS

Are you hinting that they might have been trying to avoid 5A because they feared it for some reason?
Posted on 12/17/13 at 2:07 pm to DollaChoppa
I'm guessing it's because people think that having 9 different teams claiming to be the state's best team is a bit silly...as is the fact that private schools and public schools with statewide constituencies (U-High, Southern Lab, Grambling Lab, Louisiana School for the Deaf) or parishwide constituencies (magnet schools, charter schools) are being treated lame just because they have different mission statements than regular public schools have.

i'm just saying i thought their other sports were plenty competitive to be in 5A... unless their definition of competitive is "win state every year"
Posted on 12/17/13 at 3:44 pm to chalmetteowl
That would be JT's definition. In '11-'12 school year they won titles in football, boys basketball, girls basketball, and softball .

Why didn't he do something about it, then?

Well, what rules exactly have they broken? Everyone always says that they need to be restricted, but they actually run a very clean program. Literally the whole family is involved in the school to some degree (look at the school's name, and then check the last names of the headmaster, head coach, most of the assistant coaches, half the teachers, etc. and you'll see that all of those last names match). They work with the pride of the Curtis name. The middle school coaches are able to instill "they system" in the hearts of players at an early age, and they can also use the P.E. classes to further reinforce it. They have a lot of assistant coaches for every aspect of the football team. Even if the LHSAA restricted the number of coaches that they could have, they could just move the extra coaches over to some other supporting role for the team. It's a very well-run and efficient school.

i keep on saying, since they don't get punished, they seem to be following all the rules (and they probably have more eyes on them than anyone)
but schools want to play by what they think the rules should be rather than what the rules actually are...
