It’s crazy how good they’ve been. Was hoping their resurgence would bring the great MSB foil back to the fold

I completely agree with needing to see this team in the playoffs. We will learn a lot about players in a playoff environment, and it might help to figure out who is untouchable. I think, right now, my ranking of the young talent looks like this:
Amen Thompson
Alperun Sengun
Jalen Green
Jabari Smith
Tari Eason
Cam Whitmore/ Reed Sheppard
Amen Thompson is absolutely unique. He does not fit into any mold, but I think he could be the Rockets' Draymond Green for years to come. A completely essential "role player." Not comparing their games, but comparing how useful they are without being a traditional star.
Sengun and Green finally looking good together has been a revelation, and many people credit Amen for that. Green being a consistent star is the easiest path for a great Rockets team. It means we don't have to trade for a guy that we hope fits the culture.
I think Whitmore has pretty high trade value, but I think the fact that Ime really doesn't like his defensive chops is significant. His assist numbers are also shockingly bad. He is a literal black hole on offense. Whitmore will have a chance to shine in the playoffs, where no stats are empty. But right now, I am a lot more down on him than most.
Tari and Jabari are both great role players who don't need plays called for them. Tari would be considered a defensive freak if not for being overshadowed by Amen. I love having both of them (not to mention Brooks). The defensive identity of this team is solid because of Ime (who completely turned us around from the Silas days).
I hope Reed works out. Right now, he seems uncomfortable getting a shot off, but hopefully he will ease into a more confident role.

I would put Tari over Jabari personally. I also think if there’s a player on the roster who may take an unexpected leap and become a top 10/15 type, it’s maybe Amen at this point and not Jalen Green (like so many have hoped).
I would like them to at least make a deal to add some perimeter shooting to help this current group win in the playoffs (instead of doing nothing).
I think your ideal playoff rotation looks like
FVV
Jalen
Brooks
Jabari
Sengun
Amen
Tari
Acquired Bench Shooter
A sprinkle of Steven Adams

He's too busy scouting new arena locations in San Diego

I was triggered IRL when Boom suggested the Rockets should move back to San Diego

You have to have a high basketball IQ to talk shop bubba. Once he’s back from extended family vacation he’ll visit the thread

Going to be interesting to see if Amen can go back to the bench after this run. I think he is a secret weapon coming off the bench, and he obviously closes games.

That’s what I would prefer

No Moses Malone, Rudy T, or Calvin Murphy? Under .500 team to make it to the finals.

Rockets last three games have been wins over the Cavs twice and Celtics once.
Amen Thompson is becoming a superstar.

What a fun team to watch. Last few years watching the rockets has been unbelievably painful

You think Amen is going to go back to the bench / drop out of the starting 5?
No way Ime does that after his performance this month and balling out when it was his time to step up and take an expanded role… He also fits better with FVV on the floor and his 3P shooting (and when Dillon Brooks is hot haha).
The key issue before was being able to play alongside Sengun but they seemed to have figured that out.

No I think he’s for sure in the starting 5 now. And if for some reason he’s not he will still be playing 35+ minutes or so I bet anyway and closing games

this team's effort is relentless, Udoka is a fricking beast of a coach

Amen was a beast last night.
