In March 1954 the NBA during a Lakers v Hawks game experiments with two rule changes- #2 is an interesting concept.

1) 12 foot baskets

2) Not stopping play to shoot free throws until the final period. In the first three periods, all free throws are attempted at the end of the period.

The WNBA should experiment with 8.5-9 foot baskets

In 1954 irk how many people were dunking or if that was legal even, but who wanted a slower game?

Don’t be silly.

WNBA should be 8 foot.
NBA should be 12 foot.

NBA should get rid of Free Throws altogether and do a power play

Harden would need those commercial breaks to rest part of the way through.

think the idea was to speed up the game, both teams were shooting their free throws simultaneously

With the athletic skill set of the modern roundball player, a 12 ft basket is perfect.

I don’t think players would just easily adjust their jump shooting. I could be wrong though.

And let them play defense. This brand of hero ball with centers shooting 3s and no offensive rebounding is stupid.

The idea was to make the game one for which 6 5" all around athletes could showcase.

At the time 7 footers were dominating inside but couldn't dribble if you pass them the ball at mid coourt.

I have a question

When you get an And 1 and you're shooting a free throw, why is your team allowed to have offensive rebounders in the lane? That doesn't really make sense, since every other field goal the other team takes the ball out under the basket
