most dominant athlete ever. That’s the title that matters the most

People who ask this question need to look no further than Wayne Gretzky.

I can’t disagree with you but if you know anything about tennis then you know all of the big 3 have an equal if not greater argument.

Most dominant athletes of all time
Tier 1
Novak/Nadal/Federer/Phelps/Gretzky
Tier 2
Tiger/Messi//Jordan
Tier 3 Brady/Bolt/Ali/Thorpe/Ruth/Ronaldo
Tier 4
Lebron/Bonds/Shaun white/Niklaus/Ma Long

This is a list me and a lot of my other die hard sports buddies came up with. It’s not perfect but it’s hard to argue against.

So make it.

Also you asked who the most dominant (singular) of all time was, then go on to say that three in tennis have an argument, which automatically eliminates all three. Look, if you wanted to start a tennis thread, start one. But don't start this thread to try and talk about tennis.

Just for fun, a few Gretzky facts.

quote:

He won his 10 scoring titles by an average of 49 points. He won eight consecutive Hart Trophies as league MVP. If he never scored a single goal, he’d still easily be the NHL’s all-time leader in points.

quote:

Gretzky won the scoring title by more than 70 points – six times.

The past six NHL scoring races were decided by a combined 60 points. Only one non-Gretzky player has even won the scoring race by more than 30 points

quote:

If Gretzky never scored a goal, he still would’ve recorded 11 straight 100-point seasons and won four scoring titles.

A no-goal Gretzky would still have the most 100-point seasons of all-time, and he’d be tied for the fifth-most scoring titles.

quote:

Gretzky won eight consecutive MVPs at one point. In the NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB, no other player has won more than four consecutive MVPs.

No NBA player has won more than three consecutive MVPs. Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain and Larry Bird did it. Brett Favre has the NFL record at three straight MVPs. Bonds won four straight in baseball.

quote:

Only five players have recorded 150 or more points in a season. Gretzky did it nine times, a.k.a. in 45 percent of his seasons.

quote:

Gretzky is the only player to record a 200-point season, and he did it four times.

quote:

Gretzky led the league in assists in each of his first 13 seasons, and 16 times overall – 80 percent of his seasons.

There's more, but the gap between Gretzky and number two is unimaginably large. The answer to this thread is Gretzky.

And all three of them equally dominated basically.

The only thing you have proven in this thread is that you don’t know what the word “dominate” means.

I said equal in there. Potentially greater but I have some biased because I’ve watched a lot more tennis then hockey. Even tho with tennis I only watch grand slams mainly.

Most of the world cares lol. I’ve played just about every sport, even won state in multiple sports, but nothing compares to the toughness of tennis. Mentally and physically

You are trying to argue against the big 3 having a case for the most dominant athletes of all time and you look retarded.

Golf is tougher mentally.
Hockey is tougher physically.

Both are facts….

Get over yourself.

I imagine your mental game (and probably physical game too) are pretty damn weak if you have to hide behind a computer and screenname to sit there and call Serena Williams a man, knowing good and well she's not a man.

Golf is not mentally tougher. I’ve played it my whole life and any person that has player either will say tennis is harder mentally. Tennis you are playing 3+ hour matches, running and sliding all over the court, and having to keep complete focus the entire time or you will likely lose. It’s a physically grueling sport. Average age a tennis player retires is 30.
