I hope the fans watching from outside the stadiums on rooftops and balconies make it into a party. Also hope they cheer their asses off with bullhorns.

Extremely regressive thinking. Full of fear. Systems of mass testing like this when implemented inevitably improve and become more efficient not less efficient. Also. Once they show and prove they can make it through the season As normal as possible without a disaster college football goes on. Also they have much more margin of error for the human element. The change of behavior that is being asked of 20 some odd year olds who have little to no fear is far less than what is being asked for the NBA players in the bubble.

Nah man testing and the process can’t get better as they do it more. That’s crazy thinking.

and on one hand we have the NBA who hasnt had any legitimate issues with their testing. and on the other we have baseball in what was a shitshow the other weekend. its not that baseballs testing wont get better, its having faith, or lack thereof, that they wont continue to frick up due to shitty leadership and management

You re saying it’s easier to manage a game where men are spread out over a field in a pandemic? No fricking way! Next you’ll tell me golf and racing will start again!

Am I wrong to think that the issue with baseball is that they are spread across 30 cities? I’d imagine it will take a while to figure out the process to deliver the test where it needs to go in each city and get the results back in the quickest fashion.

Who would have thought that a league which was dead in the water less than a month ago could potentially become America’s number 1 sport again?

MLB has set the standard pretty low. I was underwhelmed yesterday watching the broadcast.

The game itself had a feeling of "going through the motions."
I thought having the pics of "fans" in the stadium was too cheesy.
I thought the wearing of face mask(s) by the manager(s) in the dug out and the right fielder when he was in the field was silly. Hey manager, practice social distancing and hand washing. Hey right fielder, you're 125' or so from anyone else so you're already practicing social distancing
Why wasn't the broadcast team actually at the game in the press box where they could've still practiced social distancing while doing a live/on site call of the game? I'm tired of hearing and seeing the word "virtual" attached to everything during Covid 19: virtual graduation, virtual meeting, virtual town hall, etc. ad nauseam.
The home plate umpire wasn't even wearing a face mask early in the game and he was breathing down on the catcher's neck at very close range. He might've been wearing a plexiglass type mask (the picture cut away from him very quickly), but he definitely wasn't wearing a surgical/cloth mask early on. If he was wearing a plexiglass mask, that wouldn't have been adequate. He did put on a surgical type mask later.
And why did they have a FaceTime interview during w/ the LA Dodgers while he appeared to be driving a car?

I thought it was a missed opportunity for MLB to endorse the idea of transitioning back to normalcy by practicing, endorsing and demonstrating the concepts of social distancing, hand washing and the proper use of a face mask. I don't anticipate watching another MLB game unless the broadcast changes.

Despite the best efforts of many, The MLB is going to start and I'm glad.

You had Buster Olney saying there was only a 5% chance they would even start and Trout bitching and whining...my thoughts were the players didn't really want to play. Turns out they were really just interviewing those who were whining and the majority really did want to play.

Now they are trying to turn the Blue Jay thing in to a moratorium on how Canada is right and how much better they've handled this all and it should be a lesson...blah, blah, blah....but it's too late, baseball is starting and frankly showing it can be done safely, and it's killing them.
