BREAKING: Yoenis Cespedes fractured his ankles during an accident on his ranch in Florida.

He is in New York to see doctors. The Mets don’t know what this means for him in 2019 and beyond.

“That’s the story from his standpoint,” Brodie Van Wagenen said.

Need to hear the ranch’s side of the story.

Baseball players have a long history of hurting themselves doing stupid shite. I’ll wait to hear what actually happened.

Some good ones here.

I think my favorite is Steve Sparks getting riled up after a motivational speaker ripped a phone book in half, trying to rip a phone book in half and dislocating his shoulder.

The dumbest was Ron Gant. He'd just signed a huge contract with the Braves right before the 93 or 94 season and broke his leg riding a 4 wheeler in the woods at like 3 in the morning.

Braves ended up cutting him too and he spent the rest of his career in purgatory.

Lots of people do stuff with donkeys when they are drunk. Otherwise we wouldn’t need an SEC Rant

He took that money and ran. He'll never play another game of baseball.

He slipped and fell, jamming the shovel's handle into his abdomen. Though it hurt like hell, Pavano didn't go to the doctor for another four days, when he felt "a sudden wave of abdominal pain and nausea. He had lacerated his spleen and was bleeding internally the whole time. His lung collapsed. He was rushed to surgery where doctors removed his spleen entirely, and had six and a half liters of blood drained from his chest cavity.
Ugh, that makes me queasy.

The Mets just keep on Meting:
UPDATE

The Mets are down 8-3, they get 2 runs back to make it 8-5. They load the bases with one out. After a flyball to right field, more than deep enough to score the run at third, the runner on second decides to run on cody bellinger who delivers a perfect strike to Justin Turner who tags the runner out at third. The tag was applied before the run scored. The mets didn't get a single run out of that rally and possible game changing threat

That's the third outfield assist the Dodgers recorded on the mets today, the other two all occurring at home

1993 - Rickey Henderson

In addition to being one of the greatest ballplayers in the history of baseball, Rickey is also one of the most talked about. If you think of your Mount Rushmore of guys who are the subject of the best baseball anecdotes, it basically boils down to Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Yogi Berra, and Rickey. One of my favorites happened in August of 1993, just after he was traded to the Blue Jays, when he fell asleep with an ice pack on his foot. He suffered frostbite and was out for three games.
