So why don't teams just give them to the people that will be spending the money on the gear? Or ar least something similar?
Nike manages to preserve the traditional look of many college uniforms while still making minor tweaks here or there. Going in a "different direction" is saved for alternate uniforms. The NFL could easily do the same.

Gradients/textures/block numbers are very 00s and we're not even close to those things having vintage appeal yet
They could be worse, I admit. But it's almost more annoying because they're pretty close to being decent if Nike didn't have to add shitty little design features to make them look cheap. The same is almost always true with USMNT kits.
I don't mind the matte helmets, and I don't necessarily mind making a logo bigger. But the logo is the same early 00s-style dogshit design, so blowing it up just looks so out of place with most clean, flat designs that are prevalent in almost every other aspect of American marketing.

I don't care for the "ATL" above the numbers or the oversized numbers themselves, but I guess they're OK.
