Anyone who would put Joe Montana over Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, or Johnny Unitas is either a troll or has never actually looked at an NFL game.

TD:INT ratio? QB Rating? MUCH lower INT%?

Eh

Regular season

Brady

64%---5.6TD%---1.8 INT %---97.5 passer rating

Brees

67.2%---5.4 td%---2.4int %---97.3 passer rating

The only thing MUCH better would be drews completion pct at 3.2% better

Bradys TD % is only 0.2% better
Bradys INT % is only 0.4% better
Passer rating 0.2 better (Brees will pass him in the next few games it looks like)

In playoffs Drew leads all these stats

But I agree with your premise, Brady has more than just rings. He has the stats also to support his argument. People just never actually use them......

I mean I'm not sure I'd personally put Joe over any of those guys per se but Joe's accomplishments, his ability in the clutch, and his pinpoint accuracy not only on West Coast dink plays but deep passes make the argument for him, his accuracy in that era and the absurdly high passer ratings he submitted are simply not of this world and that he topped that routinely in the playoffs and IN SUPER BOWLS raises the perception of him to another level

23. Terry Bradshaw
24. Norm Van Brocklin
25. John Brodie

The fact that Dan Fouts isn't on the list nulls the whole thing, but I'll add my $0.02.

Too low: Elway, Marino, Manning, Young, Rodgers

Too high: Brees (maybe at the bottom of the top 10), Aikman (shouldn't be on it), Bradshaw (ditto).

Seriously? No Dan Fouts?

And Sammy Baugh isn't even top 10, Slingin Sammy, wasn't he like the first QB ever to achieve 70% completion pct PLAYING IN THAT ERA?

Quoting the NFL Network, who did just that, and who I’m pretty sure is neither a troll network and has people working there who have seen an NFL game or two:

Looking at the list as it is I would drop Troy Aikman off of it. Some might disagree but I would put Kurt Warner and Ben Roethlisberger over him.

It might have been easy to dismiss Kurt as just a product of the system Martz had in St. Louis, especially when Marc Bulger came in and had some success after him. But after he took the Cardinals on his back and nearly won a Super Bowl near the end of his career, that said a lot right there. Not many of his peers in the hall of fame took two teams to Super Bowls.

Ben Roethlisberger played like shite in his first Super Bowl, but he more than made up for it later. He came up with a clutch TD in his second one against the Cardinals.

Big Ben is currently #7 all time in passing yards with 52,725

#9 in TDs with 340

#11 in completion% at 64.1%

#10 tied with Matt Ryan for passer rating at 94.

From a talent and performance standpoint, Big Ben really has it all: the great gun, the athleticism, the mobility, the accuracy, the size, just magnificence

Can't talk you into Bert Jones, probably the most talented QB to ever step foot on a football field?

The thing about Elway was, you never knew when he would make some ridiculous play to win a game. He could roll to his right, then throw 35-40 yards down the left side of the field, and get away with it.

Anytime Elway was on TV, I was watching.

Huh? The difference between 1.8 and 2.4 is much larger than the difference between 64 and 67.2 on a % difference. Off the top of my head, it's something like the difference between about 5% and 33%, 33% better INT%.

This. I just don't agree with saying he only has rings and Brees/Brady's numbers are better. You can argue Brady over the 2 just based on numbers not even counting rings.

As I always say, Rodgers is clearly on a level above the 3 in terms of peak sustained greatness. Brady/Brees/Manning - all 3 of them are about equal, the difference in the numbers are razor thin in any direction IMO. I just don't think you can flatly say any of the 3 are clearly better or clearly inferior based on the numbers, it's just too close.

Brees is closer to Rivers, Roethlisberger, and Ryan than he is to Rodgers, Manning, and Brady.

Top 10 all time in no particular order are:

Rodgers
Manning
Brady
Marino
Elway
Montana
Young
Tarkenton
Fouts
Staubach

K
-probably the most talented QB to ever step foot on a football field
-arguably the best QB of the mid-70s
-submitted arguably the greatest passing season in history the year he won MVP 1976: 3,104 passing yards, 60% completion rate, 24/9 TD/INT ratio, 9.3 Adjusted Yards/Attempt, 15 Y/C, 102.5 passer rating. BY COMPARISON, the 1976 league mean for passing yards was roughly 2,100, TD/INT ratio 15/17, AY/A 5.3, Y/C 12.7, completion rate 52%, and passer rating 67.

Passes the eye test, numbers support his talent, there is no argument there is no debate this dude SHATTERED the curve for quarterback performance in the Dead Ball Era. They didn't call him "The Ruston Rifle" for nothing. Then again, wouldn't expect anything less from an LSU great.
