The College World Series has been really good this year

The talent level is way up due to the MLB shortening the draft a few years ago. Teams are hitting bombs instead of small-balling each other to death
All the games have been very good. 5 out of 6 games have been decided by one run. No 14-5 arse kickings
Again, the field is full of elite talent like Skenes, Crews, Langford, Lowder, Dollander, Waldrep, Troy, Wilken, Taylor, that normally would be nowhere near the college game.
Will this do anything to expand the popularity of college ball outside of the Deep South? Probably not, but it has been a real treat for fans of the sport

If somebody says “velo” one more time I’m going to drop kick a bitch

I actually love small ball over bombs. I mean I like both, but stealing bases, moving runners over hitting behind them, bunts, beating out a chopper, working a pitcher...love it

Someone brought up that the weather during the season is something that severely limits the national popularity of the college game, with the mid west and the north east population centers still being in essentially winter.
Is highschool baseball any kind of draw in the mid west? When is it played?
But to the OP’s point, the games have been highly entertaining.

Small ball and constant activity and aggression on the bases is fun, but what they had prior to the reworked bats and balls was not baseball. You had pitchers actively throwing batting practice pitches hoping to get guys to hit it to the outfield.
Pitchers weren’t penalized for mistakes and games were won 3-2 and 2-1. Now that the threat of the HR exists, pitchers actually have to pitch and are punished for serving up belt high middle of the plate no movement fastballs.
I love what it is now as it’s a good mix of both.

And the one game that wasn’t a 1 run game, had the tying run at the plate. Great games all around.

To each their own, but I like seeing the baseball purists melt when guys are cranking missiles to the concourse

All four games in Bracket 1 have been decided by ONE run.

Agreed! The talent is off the charts, many guys that will be household names in MLB sooner than later.
With how close the games have been, it legitimately feels like any of these teams could make a run. There are favorites, but it’s not a foregone conclusion who’s taking it.

Agree all around
Can’t wait for LSU Wake. Wish it was the championship series but will be a great showdown either way, two of the more talented CBB teams in a long time!

It was like they were playing mad libs and having a contest to see who could say the strangest stuff and add velo.
"He really was able to get the back half of his calf around and take the short barrel through the second plane of the zone and it allowed him to catch up to that velo."
The main point is correct though. College baseball will never bust into the big three but post-seasons like this keep solidly at 4.

Feel like both of these should exist regardless of the style. They have actually had a few reached on errors from the batters trying to make sure they beat out routine plays this postseason.

Would love to see more of this style, but definitely needs guys doing it during the offseason and saving it for the CWS. Still laughing at the guy for ORU missing a bunt attempt at a ball that was in the middle of the plate and chest high.

Same thing with "oppo."
"Jason hits oppo!"
So douchey.

LSU only had two HRs vs. Tenn. They small balled the hell out of the Vols Sat. Tre Morgan got two RBI by grounding out and hitting a sac. fly. They scored two runs in the 6th, and one run in the 2nd 3rd, 7th and 8th.
It was great to see them win that way instead of the gorilla ball approach. They win when they play that way. Lots of their loses are littered with one run HRs.
