Probably nonsense, but interesting nonetheless

quote:

A situation is developing...

that says if the #Commanders cannot bump the Bears off Caleb Williams—

Washington may just take Marvin Harrison Jr. (no. 2) and trade their 2nd round (no. 36) to the #Bears for Justin Fields.

If I’m Chicago I’m keeping fields and trading #1 for a big haul. They have a lot of needs and turning the #1 into multiple picks helps them more than trading fields and drafting Williams

Daniels scrambles on 10% of his drop backs in a clean pocket. For comparison, Stroud scrambled about 2% in college and Caleb is 3%. Daniels plays off schedule 3X more than Caleb despite everyone claiming this is Caleb’s biggest red flag. Daniels also has 24.5% pressure to sack rate in his college career. That’s higher than Maye or Caleb. Jayden Daniels has bust written all over him.

Fields would be good in ATL or PIT. He'll. He'd be good in Chicago with two more weapons. I proudly stand behind this prediction.

This is a fine strategy in a vacuum, but the reality of what Fields' contract would be dictates that you draft a QB.

It's basically a Daniel Jones situation if Fields has a decent year next year.

Chicago has given up on Fields. They should trade the #1 and Fields, draft a buttload of OL, WR, and DT and sign Kirk Cousins. Would go to the playoffs next 2 seasons.

Bears would need historic compensation to trade No. 1 overall pick in 2024 NFL Draft, per @RapSheet

I think Bears are crazy to take Caleb and trade Fields. Caleb is not that much better than Fields. Not that Fields is great. Caleb just is way overhyped

Both had similar stats in college but Fields didn't lose as much as Caleb did.

Hard to judge Fields in Chicago since he has no help. Putting Caleb in the same position won't change anything for Chicago. They need to draft OL and WRs.

This is a myth that keeps getting regurgitated.

Fields had the most pocket time in the league this season. The Bears also got him DJ Moore in the deal for the #1 pick.

The undrafted rookie Bagent had a higher completion percentage, higher percentage of on-target throws, and a lower percentage of bad throws in the games he played.

I'm not saying the Bears don't need a WR, or that their OL is great, but they had capable players on offense. You can absolutely judge Fields at this point.

If I am the Bears, trade down to #2 with Washington, and get #36 this year and their #1 next year. Take your choice of Maye or Daniels and you have your franchise rookie QB along with more weapons. Lets face it, know one has any idea who will be the best QB of the three. At least hedge your bet by having more picks.

Oh, and you still have Fields to trade for a 2nd-3rd round pick.

If I'm the Bears, I'm trading out of #1 and moving Fields.

I'd trade the 1st pick to the Broncos for Surtain, #12, 2025 1st and 3rd.

I'd trade Fields and #9 to the Falcons for #8 and #43.

I would draft McCarthy with the #8 pick. Then draft for need/fit the remainder.

I don't know what's funny. McCarthy is a perfect fit for the Bears. But they can't draft him top 5. So drop down a bit and take him borderline top 10. Maybe it's a slight reach, but they get who they need.

He's local, young, plus height/size, above average athlete, solid arm and he has an incredible resume. He would resonate in Chicago better than any other QB prospect. He'd even be cheaper. Fanbase would love him..

Kind of risky there… you only need one other team to love him like you do and then you’re screwed

I like McCarthy, but not at 8. Mid-low first round IMO.

As for Fields, I don't think the Falcons are going his direction. When Morris was introduced on Monday, him and Fontenot, the GM, said that they wanted an "elite processor", and Fields definitely doesn't fit that criteria. That is pointing to them getting Cousins and drafting Penix.

I, too, am a devout Steelers fan.

However, I'm quite ignorant of the rest of the league.

If another team is possibly willing to part ways with a #1 to obtain Fields, why are they willing to deal him away?

As a fellow Steelers fan, would you be willing to part ways with #51 for Fields?

Art Rooney came out a few days ago and said that they won't be trading assets for any QB.

All this talk about trading back.

You still need a dance partner.
