The Baton Rouge Zydeco Hockey Team is no more

No official word from the team (not surprised, they suck at communicating)
Owner didn't want the team. New ownership group stepped up and offered to buy the team. Raising Canes River Center nixed the purchase because they didn't like the new owner.
So as a result, no team, no more hockey, and I hope the whole building burns down with the flames of corruption.
And the same goes for the Zydeco front office management.

Man, f$&k these people. The ownership were fly by night crap from the beginning. The arena clearly didn’t want them there. So, we finally get a potential ownership team who gives a damn, and they say no? Yet, it’s the fans who love the team who will get shafted. Everything about this sucks. This is why we can’t have nice things.

They just don't want a team in there.
The league is terrible. I am hopeful that the new LSU arena can be setup for hockey and maybe we can get in a better league.

It was doomed from the start. A friend of mine was involved in the naming process. She told me the owner was intent on having something associated with music. The original name he chose was "Bayou Blues" but then they found out they couldn't use it since there's a town named that, so he went with Zydeco.

LSU and several other SEC and ACC schools have hockey teams already. They just play at the club sport level (no scholarships, not funded through the school athletic department) instead of the NCAA level.
Bama, Vandy, South Carolina, Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, UCF, USF all have club hockey teams.

Where'd you see that? As far as I've seen, LSU isn't a member of any leagues since their club hockey team was revived a few years ago because of cost.
Reveille article from last fall says LSU isn't a member of College Hockey South like most of the other SEC schools with club hockey programs because of cost since the players have to self fund all their equipment and travel expenses. CHS scheduling would have them traveling a lot further distances for games, so LSU basically just plays exhibition games so they can control their own schedule to play teams that are within a relatively close drive.
Would be cool if they got some sponsorships to help out with expenses so they could join CHS and play in a league with all the other ACC and SEC schools.

BR needs a team in a real league. The Zydeco was a step above high school hockey, just awful. An ECHL team would be awesome.

Need to upgrade to Division I so we can get a first overall pick in the NHL and complete the set.
