While I would hate to lose waters, I'm really excited for the crop of young outfielders behind him.

I don’t think that highly of Ramirez and I have a lot of hope in Riley, Waters and Langliers

I said it before but I don’t get the hype for Waters. I guess I’d love to be called a female dog by Hot Carl in a few months or years but he strikes out a ton and doesn’t make up for it with substantial power or consistency.

I do like Langeliers and I think the addition of Chipper will do remarkable things for Riley.

Ramirez is a stud. Riley is expendable. Waters is a luxury with our current OFs, and Langelirs I grant you will be a stud.

I’ve said before I don’t get the hype for Pache but not Waters. They are very similar prospects. I think they both will be fantastic

I think Riley still has a ton of potential. And has gold glove caliber defense already

Langliers it seems like he will be a really great player as well

I guess I just think it’s a lot to give up for one guy. Who is a very good player. Just not as great of value if we do it and look back in a few years

Dude has finished in the top 4 of AL MVP voting in 3 of the last 4 years. He had that really weird prolonged slump in 2017 but has been great other than that.

I like Riley and haven't given up on him, but he's far from a sure thing of even being consistently an above replacement-level player. Waters and Langeliers are good, but I don't think either are can't miss prospects.

Getting a player like Ramirez in return would be worth the risk IMHO.

Agreed about Waters. All of his periphials just scream bust. I have always thought that Pache is the much better prospect.

I like Riley and expect him to make a big leap this year.

Don't know enough about Langeliers except I know that his arm is elite.

Eh. Easy there, cowboy. Power hitting, stud 3B'man are amongst the hardest things to find in baseball.

Now if you were to have said that Waters is expendable then you would be 100% right due to Pache. The latter ks a much better prospect and will have the much better career IMO. Waters periphials aren't good.

I think a lot of waters’ value as a prospect come from his ability to be an above average defender in CF. But for us, he would probably be the third best defensive OF, sapping a lot of his value. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him become very good, but it feels like he would be more valuable to just about any other team than he is to us. I’m lukewarm on Riley. He obviously has a huge ceiling, but it’s a serious question of if he approaches that during our window. I really want us to keep Shea. Really want us to trade some pitching prospects

If Jose Ramirez is coming back, Riley is definitely expendable. Ramirez is exactly what you described about Riley.

Riley has shown flashes. I think Chipper being on staff now will do wonders for him. I have a feeling that he's gonna make Riley his pet project if he stays.

Here, chew on this. I think this will make you feel better about Riley:

This is his xBA. Thats expected batting average if you take away the defense making good plays or shifting just right, whatever the reason the play is made. Also SLG and OBP.

Riley's actual line, .239/.301/.415

Riley's expected line, .263/.325/.471

So IOW, Riley hit a lot of hard hit balls right at people last year. He hit into a lot of bad luck, a lot like Dansby in 2019. I'd take Riley hitting .265 along w/35 HR's and 90 RBI. Yes please. He also improved his strikeout and walk rate immensely last year.

Also, before his slump in the last 2 weeks of the RS last year, his xBA was about .275

Feel better?

The Tampa Bay Rays did make an offer to Marcell Ozuna, but he communicated to his agents that he wanted to hear from the #Braves. Deal came together in one day.

The approach is what’s most worrisome to me. I am not a believer in Riley at all as a first division regular.

That expected line is still very subpar for a corner infielder with poor defense. And the hard hit % and barrel % are down from the previous year as he’s eliminated some swing and miss.
