None of the 6 finalists for either MVP award made the postseason this year

Chipper said on Stark’s podcast that there’s a 10-20% chance Freddie leaves.

That's actually higher than I would expect someone who is close to Freddie say.

He's probably trying to walk the line of not hurting his buddy's leverage while not freaking out the hometown

That, or just pulling a number out of his arse.

Yep. AA might be overthinking this a bit. Freddie Freeman is in great shape and, if anything, has gotten better as he's gotten older. I realize he'd be ont he tail end of his prime on the backside of a 5/6 year deal, but there are other factors at play. Dude just won this city a championship, he's the face of the franchise, he is the leader in a locker room full of locked up stars, and is a great mentor/role model for your young stars (Acuna, Ozzie, Riley)
Freddie has sustainable power with a simple swing, no reason to think he can't put up similar numbers like Chipper did in the latter part of his career.
They'll get it done.
When you have your starting SS, 2B'man & C saying on the podium at the parade "Sign Freddie" that's a mandate.
It'll get done.

WestCoastAG must of been one of the voters.
They should be ashamed of themselves.

Tommy Hanson died 6 years ago today.

Freddie is on the tail end of his prime right now, not in 5-6 years. Joey Votto was the one of the best 1b in baseball for almost a decade and fell off at age 34. Goldschmidt started falling off a bit at 32. It's far more common for players to fall off a cliff at 35 than still hit at 38. See Miggy Cabrera and Albert Pujols, and most great hitters not named Bonds.
We aren't the Dodgers, a 30 mil deal where Freddie is producing like late contract Pujols would make us not very competitive. We are having issues worrying about how only a 16 mil deal with Ozuna is going to hurt us.
I want us to resign Freddie, but signing him to a 6 year deal would be really dumb. Hopefully we do a 4 year deal with an option, and preferably front loaded.

And letting him walk would make us not very competitive right now. Who is going to take his place next year? Definitely making the team worse right as our window is open vs possibly making the team worse in 5 or 6 years after we’ve gotten another WS run out of Freddie seems like an easy decision to me.

if snit does not win manager of the year or AA GM of the year all those awards are trash moving forward.

Meh. They’re regular season awards. Voted on before the playoffs.

Votto just had one of his better seasons of his career.

The Angels signed Pujols to a 10 year deal. Also Pujols was older than Freddie is now when he signed that deal. Totally different situation.

Freddie won't be an MVP candidate by the end of a 6 year deal, but the fact that he has put up two of his better seasons in his 31 and 32 age seasons says that he will still be an above average-to-good hitter by the his 38 age season.
Give him 6 years.

And Votto wasn't great the last three years before that, and only managed 129 games this year. Father time is undefeated, and as much as I like Freddie he will be no different.
Having watched the ebb an flow of the Braves all these decades, I'd much rather have a consistently good team rather than one good for a short period of time. And giving huge long term contracts is a good way to jump into the cellar.
On the flip side, I certainly understand those of you with the flags fly forever mentality.

6 years isn't 10 years chief.

That's not what this is. It's assuming that Freddie will still be an above average player by age 38.
