Scott Boras crying over Braves title.
Boras w/an epic melt over the Braves and how they were able to make acquisitions from "tanking" teams at the deadline. Boras can SMD. Melt, bitch.

Does he not realize that all of those guys were available to all 30 teams? The Braves went out and got them. Should we apologize that we lost Ronald Acuna and Marcell Ozuna?
Only Lebron James is more unlikable in all of sports than Scott Boras.

That's not even his biggest melt in that story.
Just read what he is saying about all of his clients in that story.

Boras mad that his paycheck is smaller.

The guy is so uneducated about what he's talking about that he says the the Braves acquired their players because of teams trading guys to get draft picks.... The Braves didn't give up a single draft pick for any of those players, and they gave up almost nothing, at all. These were guys who were on expiring contracts (or who had options that their teams were never going to exercise, and the players probably had no interest in staying) who did not fit into their teams' future plans, given that they were all in rebuild mode.
And just would would be wrong if those teams HAD acquired draft picks? When you stink, you trade players. Why does that equate to "tanking"? This isn't the NBA. Building a roster is a much longer and more difficult process in baseball than it is in basketball, unless you have the payroll to just buy whoever you want like a few teams do. You don't just decide you're going to suck so that you can get some draft picks. You suck because you failed to evaluate/develop talent, and the few assets you have, you trade because they won't do you any good with nobody around them. That's how rebuilding works, it's just the way it is.
There's nothing nefarious about it, whatsoever. He's mad because the Braves never do business with him. Seeing them win without any of his over paid clients makes him jealous.

I think he was implying teams were trading those guys “for draft picks” as in trying to lose as many games as possible so they could move up in the draft order and acquire larger draft pools.
There are only a handful of picks (competitive balance round picks) that can be traded anyway under the current CBA and the Braves didn’t have any.
He’s complaining about teams trying to grow their draft pools at the expense of competing at the major league level in lost seasons. That’s why he’s ripping the league for rewarding bad records.

Boras is trying to posture for the players in advance of this work stoppage/CBA negotiations. I’m confident he would have made these comments about any team that won, especially considering most of the playoff teams made significant trade deals at the deadline taking advantage of those “tanking” teams

Yeah Heyman, who is his mouthpiece, is already beating the drum for how far apart the two sides are and indicating a months long standoff is coming.
I think it would be a mild surprise if we get 162 next year.

And my question is what is so nefarious about trading players who don't fit into your plans, when you are not close to contention? If he's really upset about rewarding losing, then why is this JUST NOW a problem? And why does the Braves title have to come with an asterisk of supposedly benefiting from what he considers a broken system, when all contending teams have the exact same opportunity to acquire players from losing teams?
The Braves got 4 guys that apparently no one else was really interested in. The Dodgers went out and got freaking Max Scherzer and Trea Turner, and who did the Braves beat in the NLCS? That's right, the Dodgers. So why does he single out the Braves?
Because he has an axe to grind. Simple as that. He isn't concerned about teams benefiting from losing, or winning teams benefiting from the castoffs of those losing teams. The Braves have never had a good relationship with Boras, and so now he suddenly has a problem with the system... Right. Not buying it.

Boras is butthurt that he doesn't have any Braves clients. And the Braves, w/a couple of exceptions(JD Drew and Tex) don't do business w/Boras.
F him.
F him.

That happened a while ago.
Both Bob Nightengale & DOB say that the hang-up is years, not $$$$. Freddie wants 6 years.
The Braves will offer Freddie 5 years w/an option(either club option or fully vesting w/accelerators) for a 6th for around 26-28/yr. and all will be right w/the world.
Posted on 11/12/21 at 5:51 pm to SteelerBravesDawg
Most think he gets 6 years and close to 200 MM.

Braves sign Manny Pina to 2 yr/$8M deal. $4M club option for the third year.
Contreras trade bait for sure imo.
