So couldn't we just tack on some options or even mutual options. I have no problem with Freddie being the highest AAV First Basemen in baseball. He's earned it.

I think they'll offer him 5 years w/either a team option or vesting option for a 6th year. That'll take him till he's 38.

They'll get it done. Sounds like money isn't the issue, it's the years.

MLBTR has released their projected salaries for free agents

Freeman 6/180
Soler 3/36
Rosario 2/15

They also had a 3 man panel project where the top 50 would sign.

Verlander and Conforto got 1 Braves prediction along with Rosario and 2/3 projected Freeman to re-sign with the Braves.

Could they front-load the contract to lessen later risk?

Forgive me, I'm relatively clueless when it comes to these things.

I think this would be the best bet. Give him the bulk of his $$$ while he's still in his prime and lessen the amount as he gets older.

Fangraphs going 5/135 for Freeman.

Just don't know outside of the braves going to lock up big money on a 1B

That's 27MIL AAV.

Anything under 30 for the best 1B'man in baseball(should of won the GG) should be jumped on like flies on shite.

At the end of the day, we just need to give Freeman whatever he wants.

He's still going to be an above average hitter by the end of a 6 year deal. And it would coincide with Acuña and Ozzie's current deals. That core has at least one more World Series appearance in them.

2020 Marcell? Yes. But ‘21 Marcell? Give me Soler. Ozuna looked like he couldn’t have given any less of a shite this year. Pulled off everything. Stop right on top of the plate and still ran out of bat.

We gave him an awful contract based on him putting up career numbers in a 60-game Covid-rules season. I really hope we can get out of it, because there’s no way he can keep that up. If we have to keep him, he will be a slightly cheaper Dan Uggla for us.

Have a friend that is close to the organization. With Freddie it's the years. AA would rather give 35/40 for 3 with an option than 25 for 6 or 30 for 5. He loves the 3 year deals. I bet it ends up being a 4 year deal with an option.

I think this ultimately ends with Freddie getting five with a lot of front loaded value. Fried, Riley, and Anderson will be very expensive towards the end of that, if we are even able to retain them all

This is insanely dumb if that's the holdup.

Just give him 5 or 6. He's the fricking face of the franchise, squabbling over years when he's on the open market is exactly how you force him to consider outside offers. This will be his last big contract, give him the money and the stability that he deserves.

They'll get it done. It's a negotiation. Both sides will meet in the middle. As long as the Braves don't lowball him, which they won't, he's gonna retire here.

I tend to agree w/a couple of posts above. He'll get 4 years w/an option for a 5th and it'll be front-loaded.

Yep. AA might be overthinking this a bit. Freddie Freeman is in great shape and, if anything, has gotten better as he's gotten older. I realize he'd be ont he tail end of his prime on the backside of a 5/6 year deal, but there are other factors at play. Dude just won this city a championship, he's the face of the franchise, he is the leader in a locker room full of locked up stars, and is a great mentor/role model for your young stars (Acuna, Ozzie, Riley)

Freddie has sustainable power with a simple swing, no reason to think he can't put up similar numbers like Chipper did in the latter part of his career.

ICYMI, Snitker and Riley snubbed, not even being named finalists for Manager of the Year, or Most Valuable Player respectively. @Braves had a very simple tweet in response.
