Maybe Olson will DH or can play the outfield. And a FF resigning announcement will be coming soon.

If you haven't learned to trust AA by now then you never will.

The Braves got the best position player on the market, outside Correa, and will be more flexible to sign Dansby and Fried b/c they're the next two up.

That’s what I’m holding out hope for. If not, Freddie’s last AB as a Brave was a Workd Series dinger.

Just like the Cards with Pujols, the Braves and their fans will be praising this move in 3-4 years.

Seems like we’re all in on Travis at catcher for a few years. Can’t say I’m thrilled with that

He's listed as the #5 catcher in the bigs per the position rankings on MLB Network. Not everyone can have a Realmuto or a Will Smith.

Travis is more than serviceable.

We're fine. But yeah losing Langeliers hurts a little.

Matt Olson speaking to reporters in A’s Spring Training minutes after being informed of the trade: “Obviously Atlanta is an amazing place. World Series champs, my hometown, so if there was one place to go that’s the place to do it. So I’m excited about it…bittersweet leaving but really excited about what’s to come.”

Olson will be 28 by the end of this month. Freddie will be 33 in September.

We all love Freddie. I am sure AA offered him a lot of money. Probably $150 over 5... maybe he threw in a 6th year... and because Freddie is Freddie he has multiple suitors and offers with LOTS of money on the table.

And AA pulled off a massive trade....bringing in a 30+ homerun hitting left-handed bat... that might make $12 mill this year

Instead of us losing Freddie and us having to rely on an unproven or much lesser player.... AA goes out and replaces the bat with a cat that's 4.5 years younger

Leaving AA room to go out and get another player or 2.... I don't love the fact of losing FF.... but dayum.... this is a great play for the Braves.... if we are in fact losing him.

Playing for your childhood team seems very rewarding. But what's the price difference in Cali taxes vs playing for a lower contract in the ATL?
David O'Brien tweeted the other day that a basic comparison of a $175 million dollar salary would cost $13 million more lost to taxes in California than in Georgia.

Now that doesn't factor in the taxes paid to other states for money earned while playing road games there, but it is a rough estimate.

I’m okay with this. My concern from the start is we would lose Freeman and not get someone like Olson. Olson was always the target if we were moving on from Freeman.

This gives us a lot of flexibility in FA the next couple years also

Same, although my ability to poo poo AA's bargain bin hunting has gone out the window with a WS title, I was concerned we'd let Freeman walk and then try and squeeze the last bit out of baseball out of a veteran or cross our fingers that a down and out guy can return to form.

This obviously isn't that.

Hate seeing Freddie leave if he is leaving, but getting Olsen is amazing. Hate giving up Shea though. If we resign Soler or Rosario, I'll feel much better. I'm still holding out hope that Olsen will be DH and Freddie will re-sign

And Olsen has done that damage while playing in a relatively pitcher friendly park.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

He's gonna hit 40-45 w/the short RF porch at Truist.

My question is how will this affect the teams revenue? It seems to me that, from winning the World Series, ticket sales, merchandise sales, TV money…the team was facing a big increase in revenue. I think this pisses all of that away when they should have capitalized on it.

They could have had freeman for a reasonable salary if they had signed him to an extension at any point in the last few years. I think this is a monumental blunder by the organization and it stains the World Series championship.

Damn....was hoping Langeliers was going to be our catcher of the future. The offense should be really good assuming Acuna and the wife choker are solid.

The Braves and AA can't deal in sentimentality. And the best organizations in sports(the Braves among them) don't either.

Bad take.
