I can't be disappointed until I see what he signed for.

This sucks as a longtime fan. Long term, if you can extend Olson, we may be better off in the long run. That doesn't mean it's not going to hurt though.

So will this give us room to sign Jorge or Eddie and another middle rotation or back end bullpen arm?

It sucks but at least he is going out with a chip. Would suck more if we wasted his prime and he went ring chasing.

Supposedly going hard after Soler. Which means Duvall in CF. I'd be ok with that.

Mark Bowman @mlbbowman Freddie Freeman’s era with the Braves is likely over. The Yankees and Dodgers have seemingly been the favorites over the past few days. But the Rays and Blue Jays have remained aggressive. There was never a sense the Braves made a strong push.

Supposedly came very close on Cruz.

This saves about $15M for this year.

Yep, same here. This frees up $$$ to sign Dansby and Fried long-term and probably Riley as well down the road .

I actually think we can be a better overall team w/this setup.

Welcome back home, Matt. Parkview boy

Trust AA.

Braves doing braves things and bringing in a hometown kid in Olson, which is kinda cool at least. Sucks we're losing Freddie but Olson is young and can mash, it's not the end of the world imo. Pache is damn near an automatic out at the plate..it's basically like losing Simba except Pache was never a starter.

Don't really know much about the other 3 if I'm being honest. I just hate that Freddie is gone, but trying to be as optimistic as possible here. fml

Plus Olson is local so maybe easier to sign long term. Would just add to the young nucleus.

Lol. I like the move. FF is 32 and wants to get paid.

So does Freddie signing with the Dodgers get announced soon? I really hope not that’s one team that I really dislike and it would be hard to pull for him in a Dodger uniform. Hopefully he goes to the Angels if he wants to move to Cali.

Playing for your childhood team seems very rewarding. But what's the price difference in Cali taxes vs playing for a lower contract in the ATL?

I'm actually more disappointed that we are punting on Langeliers than losing Freddie... either way I think this is a mistake.

I hate that this might be the end of the Freeman era but.... getting Olson effectively replaces the offensive production and saves a ton of money for AA to continue adding to this championship level team.

Let it play out guys....

He was our best catching prospect in a system very light on catchers and he can hit pretty well.

Just like the Cards with Pujols, the Braves and their fans will be praising this move in 3-4 years.

He was already MLB-ready as a catcher and his bat was coming around.
