Yeah anyone thinking that this team at the moment isn't a worse version of last year's team is delusional.

The Braves will be way better than last year because we won’t have Fried sucking in October but we will have Acuna and Strider playing in October. I don’t care AT ALL about April, May, or June.

And Soto playing for the Mets will be a fun disaster to watch. He is not a team player while Alonso is. The Mets will take a big step backwards this season. The Phillies are gonna be tough and I expect them to win the division and then choke in the playoffs.

Maybe, but no way I'd be that optimistic about it.
Pen will probably be worse.
No way Sale reproduces what he did last year and nobody knows what Stridor will be post surgery. And please don't be super excited about his October play. Got to prove it first.
Acuna struggled his first year back from his first surgery. No way to know if he'll be 2022 or 2023 Acuna this year.
SS and LF still suck.

Dodgers are in a class of their own. Phillies are better by just staying pat.
I'm not going to be completely caught off guard if the Braves go deep in the playoffs but I'm not betting a lot of money on it either.

The ONLY reason the Braves made the playoffs was because of their record in April.

While the Phillies and Mets were getting better, the Braves were treading water — at best.

This was always the plan once we built that core up and signed them to long term deals. Ride out their contracts and figure out the rest of the team as best as we can.

We've won a ton of games, so I don't think its failed or anything, its just how it is. But people who think we are ever going to spend will likely be disappointed.

What I really hope is that management doesn't delude themselves into thinking they can assemble something like that ever again. It just won't happen.

Braves sign Profar. Personally love the fit but it’s an interesting profile for sure.

I'm about it

Opening Day OF of Kelenic/Harris/Profar is much easier to stomach than Kelenic/Harris/De La Cruz.

If he could be 75-80% of the hitter he was last season, it's a good move.

Anyone who bets on baseball is stupid. It’s a crapshoot sport. The Braves have a playoff team which means they have a shot. Sure, would it be nice to have an All Star at every position and have 5 stud starters? Sure, but the Dodgers are the only team who has that and they are still guaranteed nothing.

The Braves have a core that is solid and the NL has a lot of bad teams. They will make some moves between today and September to get a little better and then we’ll see how October shakes out. That we didn’t sell our future to sign Adames, Sasaki, or Soto is fine by me.

Acuña
Profar
Riley
Olson
Ozuna
Harris
Albies
Murphy
Arcia

When healthy. Need Murphy to pick it up for sure but I think Baldwin is pretty close to being ready for the full time job which is a nice safety net.

he was never going to get more than $20m.

He was fantastic last season, but it was also his only season that he had an OPS over 800.

14m AAV seems like the correct value.
