Maybe, just maybe, we should ensure our pitchers are ready to pitch when the games matter

They tried extra hard to make sure this wouldn't be an issue in 2024, but the bats were so bad that they couldn't keep putting guys like Winans and Vines on the mound knowing they were probably going to lose when they were already sliding in the standings.

My guess is we took a haircut in the payout for sure, but the question is how much. Does it affect payroll now?

We had one of the worst TV deals in MLB to begin with due to the stupid 20 year contract that was signed right before the Braves were sold to Liberty. Because of that I doubt we took a haircut at all.

If anything I'd imagine they would have to pay us more. As long as it still ends in 2028 like it originally did that's all that really matters long-term I suppose.

It was such a treat to watch him pitch every 5-6 days.

I posted last off season after we signed Sale that we shouldn’t pitch him until August. The same thing I say today about Strider. And everyone mocked that. And look how it played out.

Bottom line, is the Braves today are playing for Championship opportunities in the fall. Not winning a 100 games, winning CY’s, or having a K leader. We will easily make the playoffs next season because our bats will be better and the Mets and Phillies will step back a little.

We have to rest the horses so when October is here we don’t have our pitchers either severely tired or watching in street clothes. We have plenty of options to get starts from minor leaguers without putting innings on fragile arms 8n games that don’t matter.

Pitching isn’t necessarily what has cost us playoff games over the past few years. Until you get hitters that can show up in October, it’s going to be a long postseason.

There are ways to manage it w/o holding them off until August. With Sale, he doesn't pitch more than 5 innings until August, a sort of load management to control his innings and make sure that he's fresh.

With Strider, it's not about innings. It's about him throwing every pitch at max effort(which is an epidemic across the sport). The sooner he learns to pitch mostly at 80-90% instead of 100 % effort every pitch the better off he'll be.

They would have won 80 games last season if Sale didn't start pitching until August.

Thank you Terry McGuirk (why he's still here after signing that garbage, I'll never know).

So what’s the difference in winning 80 games or getting swept in the first round while our CY winner is in street clothes? Nothing.

The only question is when we play playoff game #1 next October will our pitchers be ready to go or will they not. That’s the ONLY question for the entire 2025 season. Not Acuna, not Álbies, not our SS, but our starting pitching.

Playoff revenue. That's the difference. Can't win unless you're in the dance.

Kerr, Ynoa, Laureano, Canning, Salina all non tendered.

All expected. Glad to see Laureano and Canning officially non tendered. Was a little afraid one would slip through. Both would have been very expensive for what they provide.

Snell getting 5/182 from LA

We thinking Fried gets above or below that? Maybe same AAV but with a an extra year or two?

I'd be stunned if Fried gets in that $33M AAV ballpark considering he has missed chunks of the last two seasons with elbow scares.
