Nicely done by Kerr to get out of that unscathed. Good on Walt leaving him in to see if he could do it, too. He might be a useful arm down the stretch.

Once we get to the playoffs, the offense will basically be "Matt please hit home runs"

Gotta stop this shite. Even if you don't want Kim, give me Lane Thomas vs RHP and Dubon at SS if Ronald has to DH.

Tucker doing his part to help the Braves and the rest of the NL. Diaz, also.

Not doing a good enough job considering the score.

The 0-23 streak is over more than one game. Hmm.

And the Dodgers are still ahead of us.... hmmm.

One day, you'll catch on. Not today unfortunately, but one day.

Good thing we also have Bryce Elder and Tyler Mahle to fill in rotation spots if Perez finally turns into a pumpkin.

What was the other option? Casey Mize, deGrom and all these other "trade deadline superstars" folks wanted are injured or pitching poorly. Mahle has pitched better through two starts than any of them.
It sucks they don't have a legit playoff rotation, but I'll give AA credit for basically having to pick somebody out of 4 or 5 options....and so far Mahle has been a good choice.

Ahhh, hindsight is always a great way to argue a point.

The option was show intention. We didn't do that.

This should have been handled in the offseason when it was still a known issue. Counting on Strider, Schwellenbach, and Waldrep was an awful strategy at the time and looks worse now, especially with reports out now that Schwellenbach never felt right this winter. He didn't show up to camp healthy and start hurting all of a sudden.

A good mantra for a GM to operate by should be "hope for the best, plan for the worst". AA doesn't ever seen to do the "plan for the worst" part of that.

It's shocking how often you miss the point of the post you are responding to.

Is it willful ignorance because you are mad that people aren't as enthused about the Braves' season prospects as you are. Or do you really not understand the game and are just posting stats that you think support your argument?

I always thought it was the latter, but lately I'm beginning to think otherwise.

No one is saying Tucker and Diaz are doing well. If anything the fact that they are doing bad and the Dodgers are still ahead of the Braves shows just how behind the 8-ball we are once the postseason starts.

IMO, the big mistake was committing to Strider as a medium length to long-term starter. His arsenal was always 4-seam FB and slider. He should have been slotted as a closer early on to put less innings on his arm and not try to throw 98-99 for 6 or 7 innings.

AA acting like he was going to be a # 2 behind Sale -- given his pitch options and injury history was foolish.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we extended Strider before the Sale trade was made.

You're right. I forgot that they extended Strider so early in 2022.
No matter when the contract was signed, once Strider developed the consistent issues with needing surgery and then his velocity went down, it was obvious he wasn't going to be a consistent # 2 behind Sale during this 2024-26 window.
The part where AA fricked up was mentally sticking to that plan of Strider being a legit # 2 guy once Sale established himself as the ace.
