Completely random thought, but every time I see one of these top 100 of all time lists the name Sean Taylor comes to mind in wondering where he would've likely landed on it if not murdered.

Agree.

Had a unique ability and played just as hard as the other greats listed.

While I agree that LT was a game changer, Thomas was a badass … nobody else except LT like him…. That’s a simple fact.

Absolutely. Thinking about it, I think he likely would've found himself in the Ed Reed range on the list (who is way underrated) if he had continued his improvement/stayed healthy.

if you think he couldn't have benefited the better than Rickeydid
with that stout group of LB's and underrated down linemen like Frank Warren and Jim Wilks on the inside I'll just have to disagree.

My opinion: LT's a notch better than Rickey, LT was good in the league immediately, took Rickey a couple of years to scratch LT's surface and LT was selected in the draft WAYYYY higher than Rickey for a reason which circles back to my original theory: he probably has a career perception similar to Lee Roy Selmon, early Hugh Green, and Richard "Tombstone" Jackson had he played for a garbage franchise. If LT plays with the Dome Patrol, their ceiling climbs a level I will agree with that. Unfortunately for Saints fans of the era, their pitiful offense always screwed it up for them when it came to the big games. Probably would happen to LT had he played with them too, we'll never know but it isn't farfetched.

Lawrence Taylor has been my favorite player for as long as I've watched football. The only other defensive player I've seen that could dominate a game like LT was Reggie White. Lo and behold, they're in the top five right next to each other.

Steve Young at 49 but his contemporary Troy Aikman is not on the list? Aikman did everything his team asked him to do at a very high level. And I am NOT a Cowboy fan.

Move Barry UP and move Emmitt down a bit.

Throwing a name out there… did Michael Vick have a case to get on this list?

That was the reason i opened the thread, to see where he was ranked. I concur, Doctor

The fact that Belichick and Brady actually game planned for him speaks volumes of his greatness and importance to the Ravens defense every time he played, he really should rank above Ray Lewis. Ray Lewis was a tremendous modern middle linebacker but Ed Reed's cornerback ability as a safety dictated game plans, dude could change the outcome of a game in an instant.

Lmao you had to be born late 90s or more recent

I'm strictly talking about the QB position. And I actually saw Rice play in person when he was at San Francisco so, no, I wasn't born in the late-90s. As good as Jerry Rice was, people tend to forget that he spent the vast majority of his career having the ball thrown to him by two Hall of Fame quarterbacks in Montana and Young. Even when he was with the Raiders he was being thrown to by the League MVP (Rich Gannon).
