From a fan perspective, this is a massive problem.

True, … but IMO this is unrecoverable. Pandora’s box …..

CFB was never perfect, but it was once great, warts and all. The things that made CFB special have been systematically diminished in favor of tv ratings …. sad

Content and lifestyle overload - the average viewer doesn't need to sit around all Saturday and just watch CFB the same way they did in the early 2000s. They are doing family stuff, travelling, or whatever frick all they want.

World of options, less eyeballs on this new NFL Lite version of CFB.

So - the SEC has not hit a ratings wall, in fact it's slightly higher, it's the rest of the conferences the folks are watching less of? Is that what I'm reading?

Big10 football is basically unwatchable at this point. The offenses are just unbearable

I'm not saying you, but many people here were swooning about SEC defenses over the entire last 20 years.

Good defense is fun sometimes, but it can be very boring

I think that's the rub right there.
A lot of the Big Tenners probably hated watching our games too back in the day.

SEC fans were more interested because those "boring" games still affected our standings, showed our next opponents etc. And now it's the same for the Big 10.

Even more of a reason for Sankey to drop that TV contract with ESPN unless they double it. We carry CFB.

Yet NFL viewership is up across all of the Sunday time slots

NFL is king and Sunday traditionally is a "stay home day" relative to Saturday. Apples to oranges.

So here's the thing...apparently actual attendance (not tickets sold) is down across the nation. And if TV ratings are also down, where are we headed?

I feel as if a crash of some sort is inevitable....but what will it look like?
