Rashada signed the NIL contract that day. It called for a $500,000 up-front payment. After that, his payments would increase from $250,000 a month as a freshman, to $291,666.66 a month as a sophomore, to $375,000 a month as a junior, rounded out with $195,833.33 monthly payments as a senior, so long as he fulfilled the following obligations:

•Residence in Gainesville, Fla.

•At least one branded Twitter post and one branded Instagram post per month.

•Up to eight fan engagement events
per year. These could include in-
person appearances, social media.
engagements, video conferences or.
interviews. None would last longer
than two hours.

•Autograph up to 15 pieces of
merchandise per year.

The contract also states that the collective can “in its sole and absolute discretion” terminate the agreement “without penalty or further obligation.”

quote:

Four sources with knowledge of the contract negotiations confirmed that the Gator Collective — which typically writes deals for much smaller amounts — never got a guarantee in writing from a donor (or donors) that they would cover the amount in Rashada’s contract. Days after Rashada’s Florida flip, LifeWallet received reimbursement for its $125,000, according to three people with knowledge of the negotiations.

The Gator Collective’s first payment to Rashada, for $500,000, was due Dec. 5. It would have come before Rashada enrolled at Florida. The Athletic asked Gabe Feldman, a Tulane law school professor who specializes in sports law, to review specific clauses in Rashada’s contract with Gator Collective.

“Just the contact with the athlete prior to enrollment and using it as a recruiting inducement, that seems pretty cut and dry based on the timing,” said Feldman. “Under every version of the NCAA policy, that’s problematic.”

Very good read

Florida fans said this was fake because they read it on a paysite that pretends to have sources

This kind of deal would force you to start the kid day one… wouldn’t matter if you had a returning Hesiman winner…

if ncaa had any power they would lower the boom on fla
but they won't
if that's not inducements to get a player to turn down the U's payday than what is?

In my lifetime there has always been one constant, you can't legislate greed. Now that players are simply going to the highest bidder this thing smacks like Wall Street with a little mafia thrown in on the side.

Players have been going to the highest bidder for a long time. I feel like you'd be familiar with that as a Bama fan.

The only difference is that now it's more open and so the casual fan that used to bemoan the schools for paying players can now more easily point their discomfort at the players that have their hands out.

Its sad that he is so misguided and immature. He won`t
ammount to anything if all he is about is money.Like alot
of these players its all about them ,not their teams.Total
lack of leadership. His parents did a horrible job of raising
him.His priorties for his age are so screwed up.He and his
family have sold their souls for the green god.

We've never seen this level of free enterprise and outright bidding wars in anyone's lifetime. Nor have we seen the movement and challenges associated with all this greed without regulation. Neither has pro sports. For you to suggest it's been here all along is just trying to make a point the hard way.

I'm well aware of the past in college athletics you aren't offering new light.

LOL.. Not sure who negotiated this contract for Jaden.. but that does not seem like a good idea, should have some penalty for breaking the agreement

The other piece that jumped out as we were reporting this is that Jaden himself didn’t seem to be driving any of this.

He’s the player, so his name is the one that gets talked about. But there were a lot of people around him searching for the biggest bag.

What kept this kid from calling UF and saying “ok I see there’s a snag in negotiations. I’m taking over. Half everything in the deal and let’s move forward.”

Why frick off to ASU for no money..?
