There should seriously be a rule or guideline or something that disallows a division winner with a losing record from making the playoffs. Every single team in that division has just three wins.

And the only reason why every team isn't in a tie for first place is because Philadelphia has a tie on their record instead of a seventh loss.

Do away with division winners getting in automatically.

At least the Thanksgiving game has some meaning to it.

Can’t wait to see someone finish 6-10 and proudly throw on their Division Champs locker room cap

This is the wrong day to start this thread. The division has only won 4 games all season against teams outside their division.

Two of those wins came today. The NFC East is red hot.

The league really needs to address this now and change the rule mid-season. They could seriously have a 5 win division winner / playoff entrant. That would be embarassing for all time.

Can't do that because of unbalanced scheduling. Playing division opponents twice a season kind of makes the division title important.

11 of the 12 NFC teams in the other 3 divisions would be leading the NFC East at their current records. The Falcons at 3-7 would be right in the middle of the NFC East hunt.

Wow

Do we have our first LSU fan intelligent enough to realize a teams’ merit shouldn’t be based on what division they are assigned to?

Just do away with divisions and send the top 6 in the conference to the playoffs.

Will never happen. It is set the way it is because owners want home playoff games to sell.

And? How does sending the Top 6 instead of the 4 Division winners and 2 Wildcards change that?

The divisions make sense to those that understand how NFL scheduling works.

It's a little different when the NFL went to four team divisions, while still maintaining the rule that best overall record wins division.

Was basically fine when 8 games out of 16 were division games, but when it became 6 some weird results became more probable I think.
