re: The 90’s teal fad

I've always thought that the early 70's Dolphins uniform with the teal jersey (without the arm stripes) was one of the very best ever. Simple but works...

Teal works for cities near the ocean or who have a marine based theme, Sharks, Mariners, Dolphins, or Jacksonville being in Florida.

Teal doesn't work for Grizzlies, Pistons, etc.

When teal makes sense it's an awesome color combo for uniforms. When it doesn't it just looks forced.

Don't forget the outside and all of the seats of the Georgia Dome when it first opened in the early 90's were teal. It made absolutely no sense but the architect insisted that teal was the new thing. Arthur changed the outside, at least, after he bought the Falcons

I admit to owning both Marlins and Mariners hats in the 90s

But they were Starter, of course

When they finally built the new high school in the Lafayette area near where I live7 year or so ago, my son was in 9th grade and would be transferring to it in the fall, and him and a handful of other students were chosen to pick the colors and mascot.

They went with this...Teal & Navy.



I thought it was funny.

I could sell my vintage NOLA Hornets teal visor for whatever i ask. Everyone wants it when they see it.

Looking back, the Detroit pistons change was that most questionable, but for whatever reason it worked for the 90’s.
