So Rai is the first Indian major winner, correct? Vijay doesn’t count
Why wouldn’t Vijay count? Rai is from the UK not India. They’re both of Indian decent and neither from there

I’m talking ethnic, not nationality

You don’t consider Vijay SINGH ethnically Indian?
Posted on 5/17/26 at 5:14 pm to SECCaptain
Yes Vijay is from Fiji doesn’t count.
Rai, while being born in England, is definitely Indian and his wife is a pro golfer from India too

How are you counting Rai, and not Vijay in this? If Vijay doesn’t count, then by your logic Rai doesn’t count. Vijay was from Fiji, and Rai from England. If Vijay does count, than Rai does too. They are both of Indian descent, but not Indian.

Or maybe that’s just how you gauge it!

Ethnically Vijay is Indian

Who is going to celebrate it more, the UK or India? I bet it’s India.

Dude Fiji is an island. There’s far more people Island people that look like him from there and New Zealand. It’s its own ethnicity. Not Indian.
Nobody would consider Aborigine people as Indian. And that’s very close to Fiji people

He’s an ‘Englishman’ but of Indian descent. We’ll see how the media plays it. They love their minority ‘firsts’.

Are Polynesians considered Indians?
