quote:last night the first round was terrible. I just get all meh when i see you attempt a dunk 7 times before actually dunking it.
most guys last night could do the dunks vince did in 2000 fwiw. people would just "meh" them b/c they've already seen it
the final round was very good though

wes johnson? bust wes johnson?
turner? maybe. i don't think he's a great athlete/dunker
barnes? he could have worked
aminu? he's been in the NBA for a while and he has no chance of being anything in his career close to star

I'm not saying he's a good player but if they refuse to cast stars and go with the young guys with hops, why not?
Aminu won't be a star but he can dunk a ball. He's a hell of a lot better choice than Chase Budinger and Rudy Fernandez.

Evans was meh.
My point exactly. They should be banned from the contests.

I am so tired of the free throw dunk. Most played out dunk. If you can't add a wrinkle to it to make it better, stop.

Everybody sits at their house waiting for Space Jam shite and when it doesn't happened people whine.
Like i said yesterday, people won't be impressed by anything anymore, until guys are taking off from the 3 point line.
Until then, people will bitch about how much the dunk contest sucks.

There are still original dunks out there. Here are a few from recent years.
This is what I'm talking about when I say add a wrinkle to an existing dunk making it better. Dee Brown didn't dunk over anyone when he did it.

they need to take a few years off like they did in the late 90s. then 2000 happened

Too bad we never got to see the "Kiss the Rim" dunk.
The punching the ball dunk in 08 also gets overlooked. Very original.

Just make sure its not the one in NOLA. I want to see one in person dammit.

They should use the old format from the 80's. Back then, the winner would do 7 or 8 dunks. Maybe have six contestants do three dunks each in the first round. The top three advance and do three each in the finals. No time limit and you get one re-try per round. All the missed dunks are what bothers most people. They have to get rid of that.

The dude was the 5th pick in the draft, won rookie of the year in 99 and then averaged 26/6/4 in 99-2000.
that doesn't make him a superstar
It did blow him up even more but I remember him already being a huge star in the NBA prior to that dunk contest.

I remember when he was traded for his UNC teammate on draft night.
