When he is asked “Scottie how long do you celebrate a win” I’m not sure why he should answer for anyone but himself
No one is saying he should
However in my opinion I think a better answer would have been something along the lines of “I’ve been incredibly privileged to win a lot of tournaments and I’ve worked really hard to earn that. I know golf isn’t who I am, it’s what I do, but I still cherish every win because I know how hard they are to get”
He’s kind of dismissing everyone else’s feelings and how fulfilling it is for every other player In my opinion because he’s been desensitized to it.
Tiger may have said something similar 20 years ago but I bet he’d be pretty damn happy if he was able to get back and win another tournament. It’s just a matter of perspective and I think he’s caught up in the moment a little bit right now. And I get how that happens and it’s not that big of a deal

I didn’t argue with you. I only responded to someone saying it was “ungrateful and spoiled”.
Stop worrying so damn much about yipping at my heels and you would understand the other poster and I already hashed it out

I think it’s a little spoiled, ungrateful probably a little to strong of a word

I disagreed with what YOU said, I never commented on what he said. You think to highly of yourself

I'll stick with disjointed but just for an anecdote.
I had texts about it on two group chats this morning. One is largely comprised of devout Christians and they were loving what he was saying. I think, again, to Jim's point, they were taking the side he meant there is more to life than golf and, while he didn't mention it this time, has spoken before of his faith being his priority.
The other group is my high school buddies who are just a bunch of early 40s working dudes with families going through the grind. Very few of them put much stock at all into religion. They took the more cynical view of quit crying and go work a real job and see what that's like.
Taking the comments without context I can see both sides and why I fall in the middle. Knowing Scottie's history and the kind of guy I think he is I believe he meant to present it as the former but communicated it poorly and can see why some took it as the latter.

Moreso if you actually listen to it. He stuttered and even giggled. You could tell it’s an internal thought/feeling he himself struggles with
You really should listen to it. Does far more justice than reading words on paper

Just listening to the Shotgun Start preview. They’re covering this Scottie topic, and said pretty much exactly what I’ve been saying.

quote:this seems to be a common thread in people that accomplish a lot in life. A lot of them articulate this much later in life when they're old and realize that all their accomplishments gave them temporary happiness. Good for Scottie that he can see that at an early age.
It seems weird to talk about how you are so grateful for something and that it brings tears to your eyes to be able to do it and then immediately call it unfulfilling

I was listening to talkSPORT UK earlier this morning, and Simon Jordan was empathizing with what Scottie said. He said highly driven individuals are constantly thinking, "what now?" after they reach the mountain top, so professional success is fleeting.
Jordan referenced himself becoming a multi-millionaire and buying a Premier League club in his early 30s. He said his life was great, but also stressful because he was always thinking about what to do next. His kids were what brought him true happiness.

Yeah, not so good tee shots. Chuckled at Sam Torrance calling Cam’s shot terrible.
