If some sumbitche that is about 10 over shoots 66 tomorrow he could be in a playoff
They will flood these greens tonight.plus, they'll put the pins in much more favorable locations.
I expect the scores to be much better on Sunday.

Wow, I just saw the stat, and it was even worse than 4 shots. It was closer to 4.5 shots difference.
First 11 groups: 73.6
Last 11 groups: 77

I Forgot to mention that that article was the main story on their home page
ESPN certainly sucks these days but I didn't expect that out of them, that was a shitty opinion piece

I don’t trust Phil at all bc he’s a piece of shite. So I just assume he tried to save himself.

Help a rookie golfer out; why are these guys missing putts so badly? I mean I can’t read a green for shite, but what is it that makes these greens so bad (hard)?
I think it takes playing a major championship-caliber course to really understand what makes these places so much more difficult than a typical track. Take a look tomorrow on TV and notice, as an example, that the easiest - not the most difficult or even the average, but the easiest - bunkers on the course have lips that are at least as high as the players' shoulders and heads - your average 125 or 130 slope or whatever course just doesn't have that.
They tend to be punishing to a degree that is hard to fathom unless actually seen or played in person. It's also not just the tiers in the greens but the slope within the tiers and the pin placements they can throw at you. It's not just about hitting the fairway but about hitting the correct 10 - 15 yard corridor of the fairway. So on and so on.
The truly challenging major championship courses (think top 50 or 100 or whatever courses in America) are almost like playing a different sport. It's not like, as an example, basketball where the best in the world are playing the exact same game that you've played since you were 6 years old with the same ball and backboard and rim height and circumference - it's more like if the best in the world were playing basketball on a 12 foot rim with a 15 inch circumference on a floor that has been coated with pig grease.

Wow, there are 2 other people who do not know that
77 - 73.6 = 3.4
Get it together Louisiana.

Ian Poulter basically just said to suck it up and play, that it's the U.S. Open and it's supposed to be difficult. Love it.

Poulter is also bitching on Twitter about being verbally abused on every hole. frick that guy.

He’s a polarizing figure for sure. Him being non-American he probably is getting more flack from the Yankee crowd, especially with his Ryder Cup history. I just checked his twitter feed. I think he changed his tune this morning after a day to cool off.

Phil and Rickie both under par thru 5.

the New York crowd is awful, the yelling after every shot has gone too far, it's not funny but just simply annoying

I don’t think anything will be as bad as Olympic in 2012. It even had the perfect ending with Bird Man

If he thought yesterday was bad, just wait until today. Taunting New Yorkers always works in your favor!

If he thought the sauna was too hot yesterday then he's got another thing coming.
The temp just got 20 degrees higher.

I always thought greens should be green. Tells you how low they cut them.

I can’t stand Poulter, but imagine our reactions if Poulter did what Phil did yesterday and vice versa.
People would still be railing on Poulter.
