God what a great season.

Haters run rampant. We give the haters hope that we were going to lose in pretty much every single game. Then we ripped their heart out every time.

1986 Miami is spot on.

They were the most obnoxious team of all-time. Back when you could dance and point for first downs and break-dance after every first down.

(2005 USC had some of that bravado)

But 1986 Miami was insanely braggadocio before the NCAA policed that stuff. It was fights, high-stepping, spinning balls in people's faces, dancing after every tackle...they DANCED after EVERY tackle!

It's not popular now. But when Penn State beat Miami in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl it was the most popular win ever.

You could actually hear all the broadcastersand sportswriters clapping like crazy after Vinny is intercepted for the last time at the goal line to win the game with 14 seconds seconds left.

The Press booth goes crazy. Fans and the Press all hated 1986 Miami.

And if you ever perused this board, it would make sense that 2005 USC was listed as #2. Never seen so much hate years after the fact.

I hate the 1984 BYU team because that was bullshite...and the Bama team that got a rematch. WTF?

Why play the regular season? Only Tide fans like 2011 Alabama. Lose at home and get a do-over?

That was the worst period in CFB history and totally dictated and dominated by the now seen corrupt ESPN. Such a shitty few years from 2010-2015. It was all a mish-mash of nonsense and lack of common sense.

What?

How many debates have their been on here and everywhere...that Miami got robbed? The penalty of all disputed penalties in CFB history.

And then still claiming they were the better team after losing to Texas

If USC plays that game 10 times, they win 7.

Young had the perfect game, knee down but was still awarded a TD...and USC self-destructed in the 1st half as they were literally runing away with the game.

Despite all their mistakes and turnovers they still had a 4th and 2 to win the game.

The Stats favored USC...with USC actually having more yards on offense than Texas but more turnovers.

2011 Iowa State is up there for me as well. I know it's Iowa State, but c'mon. That upset ruined college football for every non-Bama fan.

I remember them being well liked. A lot of Miami fans back then when they still had the swagga, but a lot of people were pulling for that upset too and it was an epic them

I was pretty young then though so my memory of it might not be as tuned into what the national perception was

I can DEF see why that Miami team was hated, not only was that arguably the best single-season team of the decade but a lot of the marquee players were knuckleheads and outlaws

All of CFB was that way. Miami just embraced the aesthetic because Jimmy Johnson knew it worked for them to increase the visibility of their program.

Schools like Penn State, Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma and Notre Dame wanted you to think they were squeaky clean, but they definitely were not. They had all of the same issues as Miami. Hell -- a lot of those schools were actually worse than Miami when it came to cheating and doping and covering up for players.

My dad hated it. I loved it. It was definitely a generational thing with Miami.
